Late notice, sorry. Would anyone like to join me camping at Hurkey Creek this weekend? I'll be there Friday throught Sunday. There are plenty of open sites - I called yesterday. I'll have my new guitar. There are already 2 other guitar players coming. The campground ranger plays too! Come and spend a few hours or more. It is a nice drive from most of So Cal.

Hurkey Creek Campground is near Idyllwild and Hemet Lake on Hwy 74.

From San Diego, take Interstate 215 to the Hwy 74 off ramp.
Take Hwy 74 east through Hemet and come up the mountain to Mountain Center. Continue on Hwy 74 past Mountain Center. Hurkey Creek Park is about 3 miles past Mountain Center on your left hand side.

From LA/Orange - Take 10/60/91 to Interstate 215 to the Hwy 74 (east) off ramp. Take Hwy 74 east through Hemet and come up the mountain to Mountain Center. Continue on Hwy 74 past Mountain Center. Hurkey Creek Park is about 3 miles past Mountain Center on your left hand side.

Those wishing to reserve campsites can call the toll-free reservation hotline (800) 444-PARK, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific Time, seven days a week.

— Hurkey Creek Park in Garner Valley, four miles southeast of Mountain Center on Highway 74, also offers family camping.
The 59-acre park is open year-round and has 150 campsites, five group camping areas and two day-use areas.
Hurkey Creek campground offers showers, modern restrooms, fire rings with half-grills and picnic tables in a forest area. Individual and group campsites, along with group picnics, can be reserved.
Hiking trails lead directly into the San Jacinto wilderness area. Hikers must obtain permits in advance from the Forest Service or Mt. San Jacinto State Park.
Hurkey Creek flows almost year-round and attracts a variety of wildlife. Two archaeological sites are located in the park.

Steve
I'll be off this Sat., so chances are I'll be there. I've never been there but according to your direction it shouldn't be hard to get there.
If I do, I'll be there around 8.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.(practically all day before I head back home for Sunday work)
So what's your plan on Sat.over there?
Do I need to bring my hiking boots? How about the forecast and bugs over there?, should I bring my battery powered amplifier or just my guitar or anything at all?
I'll leave msg for Anthony007, in case he's willing and able. :)
And I also have good news for you about Al (my buddy), I'll let you know on Sat. :D

Sounds nice, Steve, but it's not in the cards for us. We're heading into the final stretch of our move, and the wedding is just three weeks after that, so we're going to be out of general circulation for a little while. I hope y'all have fun, though!

Nap,
I hope to see you there. It is very easy to find. If you come a 8:oo am I'll probably be asleep still. Don't bring an amp, we are camping. There are no bugs to worry about. It will be pretty hot this weekend - there is plenty of shade. Bring hiking boots if you want to hike. Because of my knee, I'll probably not hike at all.

I'll be in site 125. If I am not there (but my trailer is) when you get there, just wait, I'll be back. Look for my F-150 red four door super crew and a Weekend Warior Super Lite FS2600 Toy Hauler.

Steve,
I have gigs Saturday and Sunday, so won't be able to make it. Hope you all have a great time! Take lots of H2O, it should be a scorcher!

I decided not to participate this camping. As we know it'll be too warm and I also have a gig on Sunday right after work, so it could be too much activity and less rest for that gig.
We'll get together sometime in the near future, and the good news about Al is he'll become your neighbor in few weeks.
He's getting his new home's key tomorrow and will start moving in, I don't have his address yet but I'm pretty sure it is very close to your home, so we'll be jamming up and jelly tight together!.
Have a great camping. :)

Nap,
Cool, a new guitar playing neighbor. Sorry you won't be there, I understand - it will be hot.

Hot or not, I'd sure like to be there. It's probably too late for you to see this before you go Steve... but have a great time anyway! Nothing like playing outdoors!

Will you be playing your second guitar already??
