Late notice, sorry. Would anyone like to join me camping at Hurkey Creek this weekend? I'll be there Friday throught Sunday. There are plenty of open sites - I called yesterday. I'll have my new guitar. There are already 2 other guitar players coming. The campground ranger plays too! Come and spend a few hours or more. It is a nice drive from most of So Cal.
Hurkey Creek Campground is near Idyllwild and Hemet Lake on Hwy 74.
From San Diego, take Interstate 215 to the Hwy 74 off ramp.
Take Hwy 74 east through Hemet and come up the mountain to Mountain Center. Continue on Hwy 74 past Mountain Center. Hurkey Creek Park is about 3 miles past Mountain Center on your left hand side.
From LA/Orange - Take 10/60/91 to Interstate 215 to the Hwy 74 (east) off ramp. Take Hwy 74 east through Hemet and come up the mountain to Mountain Center. Continue on Hwy 74 past Mountain Center. Hurkey Creek Park is about 3 miles past Mountain Center on your left hand side.
Those wishing to reserve campsites can call the toll-free reservation hotline (800) 444-PARK, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific Time, seven days a week.

The 59-acre park is open year-round and has 150 campsites, five group camping areas and two day-use areas.
Hurkey Creek campground offers showers, modern restrooms, fire rings with half-grills and picnic tables in a forest area. Individual and group campsites, along with group picnics, can be reserved.
Hiking trails lead directly into the San Jacinto wilderness area. Hikers must obtain permits in advance from the Forest Service or Mt. San Jacinto State Park.
Hurkey Creek flows almost year-round and attracts a variety of wildlife. Two archaeological sites are located in the park.
