I haven't been around much lately and something has either disappeared off this board or slipped by me without me realizing it. What happened to the thread about a get together in Florida?

I had also offered to host a Miami get together and some were talking about St. Augustine, Orlando I think...

Anyone know or remember?

Thanks... Dennis

Dennis,

I don't know....haven't seen anything on that topic for some time.....I know Lisa has RickS and some other folks over months ago....and a newer member (?) was chumming for a get-together....so, whatta ya wanta do?

We could start something! I can do JAX to Miami (in terms of travel to participate)......I helped organize the post-Taylorstock St. Augustine Beach get-together.....

What's your pleasure?

I think the gathering fizzled and that was probably my fault. I got busy with a new job and stuff and kinda dropped the ball. I'd be happy to help with something if someone wants to take the reins. :D

I'm still up for another get-together, as long as we can work out the date to get the most people there. Scheduling seems to be a real pain lately.
I'm not in any position to take charge here, so that will have to fall to someone else. And Lisa, I don't really think it went by the wayside on your account. Last I recall Pistolero was looking at a place on the west side, and I think it just kind of got dropped is all. No big deal, we'll get there soon.
BTW, Bob told me you said HI, so HI right back at ya.
When are you going to see Sam play?

My idea for hosting something in Miami was one of two concepts.

I have had 5 people at my house, camping out on inflatable mattresses, cooking BBQ, jamming and recording all day. We won't talk about the beer here.

If we wanted to get more together, I could seat more in the house and around the yard, but we'd have to turn to local hotels a mile away.

My schedule for the next few months is that I'll be working and travelling through the beginning of October. Then the Jewish holidays come and for a month, I can't think straight.

The day after the last holiday service, I feel like a convict who beat the death penelty. I want OUT of here!

Some time around early November... by which time I should have my T5...

Right now I have one weekend gone this month for the Charlotte guitar show the 20th and 21st.
Then I will be gone to the races over the Labor day weekend.
After that, the last week of October and the first week of November.
So, early to mid November sounds like a good plan to me as well. IF we decide to go south, the weather will be much nicer then as well. But we should try to find a place somewhere in the middle so more people can attend.

Let's see if we can get some kind of a head count on how many would be wanting to come and then figure out the best location for a compromise in travel.

Sorry folks, I've been out of town for the last week so I just got a chance to see this. The last discussion we had about this ended with the following post that I made, quote:

OK, I spoke with Jerry about using the fellowship hall at his church and he said it would be fine. The only 'restriction' as he said is that there could be no alcoholic beverages. He also suggested to meet at Lilians, a restaraunt/pub style place on Roosevelt Blvd. They have a room in the back where they hold open mic on Tuesdays, he and Ed host it there. He suggested that Lillians would let us use the room, assuming of course that most of us would eat/drink there. So there is another option. You folks cuss and discuss it, and let me know what you decide and if I can help in anyway.

After that, nobody made another post. I've got a knack for ending threads though when I post for some reason. If everyone wants to get together, I'd love to and would be more than happy to try and help plan it. How about a poll to decide the best couple of dates for everybody, and assuming it's in J-ville and nobody has any other ideas, I will talk to Jerry about the fellowship hall availability for whatever dates are decided on? Or Lillians? If yall tell me what you want to do I'll try my best to get the ball rolling.

Yes, he said he told you...we agreed that you're a heck of a nice guy who also has a great guitar collection. :) As a matter of fact, I went to hear Sam tonight. I'm afraid my back only endured the first half of the set since I got there at 7:30-ish to hear Katherine Archer, so by 10:45 I was ready for a softer chair.

Sam is certainly a monster on the guitar and it was great to get to meet Bob Colosi, he was a wonderful "host" at the gig. :D

If it happens to fall over Labor Day weekend or the week after/before I'll be there with bells on.. With all three guitars.. Oh and did I mention 5 of my 7 dogs!? ...But don't worry, three don't count because they're puppies. LOL.

I'll be in Quincy for a week, sometime around Labor Day, I am thinking.

Just adding my 2c to say No, I haven't quite fallen off the earth and Yes, I'm still interested in a get together. W*rk has pretty well eaten up my board time, but I do manage to lurk here once a week or so, hit the highlights.

Miami would be easiest for me, but I understand the majority opinion to do it mid-state, so I'm in for wherever it happens. Esp. at the prospect of checking pistolero's stable of beauties. If we do it in the back room of some restaurant, I'm certainly good for buying my share of grub & suds. I didn't get this way by accident :D Dennis' idea of Nov. sounds good, I have a wedding & MagFest back to back in Oct, & the usual potential storm related work from now until Oct.

Lisa, missed ya by a week; I caught Sam Pacetti on 8/8 at the Milltop, had an overnight in StAug. Good crowd despite the rainy weather... & it was great hearing Sam again.

I suggest carpooling... geez, $43 to fill the minivan the other day!

For what it's worth, we'll be in the St. Augustine area for 4 or 5 days over the Christmas break. Would love to meet some of you Floridians and play some guitar.

Keep me posted.

Definitely give me or one of the other locals a yell. As posted above, seeing Sam live at the Milltop is a must for any acoustic player whilst visiting St. Augustine. You will not be disappointed. ;)

Well make Lisa and RickS buy all the beer too. :D
