That's right, come watch the suspense! Can he pull it off? There's a lot of people here! It's getting dark! He's been playing for more than 2 hours! Can he keep it up? Will he falter and play a repeat?

All these questions will be answered when I play from 7:00 - 11:00 on Saturday 7/30 at our friendly neighborhood Pyramid Alehouse in Walnut Creek.

Come watch the fun....or the train wreck....:D

A 4 hour gig? No wonder you try and learn 3 or 4 songs a week. But that's ok, after the first 2 hours, they'll all be Ale'd out and you can just repeat all the songs and they won't even know it. In fact, you can probably just put a CD on after that.

Surprisingly, I found that I'm able to do this long with no repeats and still have leftover material.

The secret is to take 3 45-minute breaks :D

Hey maybe those groupies who asked you to go to Reno with them will be there again!
Just raise that left eyebrow (ala DM) and you'll get them going!!!

You are going to do great! I can't make over that night but break a leg and hope that their drains work well... :) (inside joke)

I sure hope they do work....I may be puking in them before the show ;)

Sorry you can't make it. I'll be talking to Tempe about the next AGF night.

I actually MIGHT be there. Depends on how the jet lag is and the family reunion.

Guyute

Really? Well that would be way cool. Hey, if you can't make that night, drop me a line while you're out here and we'll get some people together!

I know that Brandt and David and I would enjoy meeting a fellow Cain buster :D

Jeff let me know approx. what time you might drop by and I might be able to sneak away for 30 minutes and say hi. I'll bring my Garrison! :)

Guyute

Well, I've got a new song or two to try out. We'll see. Hopefully Jeff can make it. I promise not to put you on the spot and shove a guitar at you Jeff ;)

Well, I'm just getting back from this gig. I have to admit that I surprise myself sometimes.

No,the show wasn't perfect. Not every song was done as well as I like, but the real surprise was that I played from 7-11 with only 2 repeats and those were both by request! I had no idea I knew that much material :D At the end of the night, several people came up to me and said they heard me and came in off the street to listen, which is about the highest praise I could have gotten I think.

And to top it all off, I made $85.00 in tips! Granted, about $60 of that was from my young nephews and their friends. But let's face it, that just means they have to come to ALL my gigs from now on...hehe.

So, I'm feeling pretty good about myself and I figured this was as good a place as any to toot my own horn :D

Way to go, Chris! That's a lot of songs!

The Pied Piper effect worked!!

I KNOW! No one was more surprised than I was. By the way, YOU will be happy to know that I didn't even sink so far as to break out Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" (which I've been known to do when scraping the bottom of my repertoire barrel).

I was kind of bummed that no AGF'ers showed. I'd have loved to put some people on the spot...."Here.... <shoves guitar into startled players hands> .... you play for a while." :D

You do Sweet Caroline? I've always wanted to do that song....HA!

I think the East Bay AGF'ers somehow knew you might do something like that. In fact, some of us were there but stayed inside the restaurant, behind the glass!!!

LOL! Ace, if you want actual sheet music for any Neil Diamond song, you just have to let me know. Might help with arranging it ;)

eiko

I know you're joking because you're way too young to even know who Neil is. Are they your Dad's sheet music? :D

I do like September Morn' and Heartlight. I just wish he'd sing the song and not recite it like a poem.

Personally, I like Hello Again, Crunch Granola Suite, Solitary Man and my current Neil song to learn....Love on the Rocks ;)

"Luke I am your father"

I can resist, the force is powerful, I must find my strength to resist the Dark Neil...

Brandt,
I can teach you a solo fingertsyle arrangement of Song Sung Blue if you like. Your nice SCGC may not like it though. The Travis picking might make up for it.

Guyute
08-02-2005, 05:24 PM
And I can teach you to sing it like Neil! You don't even need a sequined shirt and Beatle boots!

I just heard a local group do a cover of Sweet Caroline. It rocked!

Guyute

It is impossible NOT to rock when you're covering Neil!
