RMMGA regular Arlene (kol_isha) will be visiting northern California so it seems like a good time to have a picking party. I've met some terrific pickers here so I wanted to extend the invitation to AGF folks. Show up any time after 1 PM for lots of picking, singing, guitar fondling, grinning, and munching.
Email fran.guidry@gmail.com or fguidry@yahoo.com for directions.

Thanks again Fran! That was a lot of fun and you certainly have a lot of nice friends.
The best part was playing all those nice guitars. It was like a tupperware party for custom builders :D A mini preview of Healdsburg!
Of course, now the blame for my ever increasing GAS for a custom guitar is resting squarely on your shoulders.
Chris, I bet it was a good time. My wife and I were all set to go but a family emergency (sister's surgery) rewrote the weekend schedule. Family comes first of course. Would have wanted to be at the mini-Healdsburg in WC.
Fran, sorry I didn't make it.

DARN, DARN, DARN.
Sorry I missed it.

You know, I thought about giving Fran a bump a couple days prior, but then, being easily distracted, I

Chris, we were really glad to see you. Thanks a ton for all the work on the Pyramid CDs, I'm almost through them. Do you always have this magnetic effect on women? My wife and her sister keep wanting to see more pictures of "the cute one."
Did you try any of the Santa Cruz Brozman baritones Steve Swan brought? Did you get a crack at my Walker? If you were like me this little gathering brought out more guitars than I could absorb, Healdsburg is absolute total overload.
Well, anyway, I've done a quickie web page with some pics:

I picked up the Brozman and strummed a chord and put it right back down, too scary to contemplate at the moment...heh.
I didn't know I had a magnetic effect, I'm growing into this rock star thing after spending my first 25 years as a confirmed nerd ;)
Keep me updated on the next party. I had a ton of fun.
P.S. The shrimp and grits I made later that evening were everything I'd planned for :D

We're sitting down with some warmed over pulled pork. When I told this bunch of chow hounds about your shrimp and grits they were ready to track you down.

Sounds like a great get together. Sorry I missed this one! (prior commitment with the whole family, you know) - it's kind of a shame that you didn't have any nice instruments to play! :D WOW! what a collection of incredible guitars and players...
Count me in next time.

OK, I'm putting all you guys on the mailing list, you've been warned.
I did another little update to the web page, fixed some spelling, corrected some guitar references, added a few pics.
Chris, I hope you didn't go to rec.music.makers.guitar.acoustic hoping to talk about acoustic guitars. That's where we talk about talking about talking about acoustic guitars. It's also home to more manic depressives per square inch than any place in the internetverse. (oops, don't tell them I said that.)

LOL! I should feel right at home then!
As long as no one asks me for advice about anti-depressants. I used to be for them, but then I heard Tom Cruise said that they were bad.
It is a shame that you guys had so much fun without some of us. We'll get you back.
Fran - thanks for the documentary. Great pictures and play-by-play (sort of).
Chris - what chord were you playing?
I think Katie Holmes is changing her mind about Tommy...

LOL! Chord? We don't need no stinkin' chords!
If you look at that picture, it looks like I'm actually fingerpicking, too. It's all an illusion. In reality, I was so enamored of the guitar that I didn't know where to start ;)
I know what you mean. First time I was at Fran's, he had guitars coming out of the walls! Ok, maybe they were hanging on the walls and not really coming out of them. Nevertheless, they were all over and they were all nice. And I thought I had a lot of guitars....
Looked like you were checking to see if it was a 12-fretter or 14. I can almost hear you counting... :ha:

Hey man, if you're gonna get a guitar that nice, you'd better be sure it has all the frets :ha:
But the scary part is, if someone had asked me at the time, I'm not sure I could've counted to 14. That guitar was that striking! "Let's see....1....2....3....4.....oooo! Is that dyed green maple? Where was I?"
