Guys & Gals,
Who is going to the Dallas Guitar Show?
I will be there @10:00 on Saturday and if I don't get to what I'm looking for I may come back on Sunday.

I'll be there Sunday afternoon. I'm halfway looking to see if anything catches my eye. There are lots of things to see. As far as buying anything, I think your best bet is to catch someone walking around trying to sell their guitar-or whatever. The exhibitors are there to make a buck and hope to get you caught up in the excitement of the moment. It's always a fun time.
See you there.

You guys watch yourselves around Taygull.
He is on a 12 string quest, and might go into a "feeding frenzy".

i'm shooting for tomorrow afternoon. i was hoping my collings would be ready by now and kevin from hill country guitars could just tote it on down here, but i still have a few weeks to wait so i'll go just to say hello to him and have a quick look around.

Well-MY plans have changed. I'll be there Saturday afternoon instead of Sunday. I even convinced my wife to go with me. After 33 years of wedded bliss, this proves how much she loves me! She'll be the one with the "How much longer?" look on her face!

Bah.. looks like I'm not going.
Oh well. :p
I wanted to, but I guess it's just as well. I have some other music-related stuff kicking tomorrow, so it's not all bad.

I will be there @ 10:00, I am suffering from some kinda cold or little flu bug. I have lost 100% of my voice! I guess I'll have to take pen and paper to talk to the dealers.
It is strange, I've never lost my voice.

I went/couple of hours spent/helped 'em pay the rent! It was just like all the others of years past. Moderately fun/an auditorium full of "gifted" musicians who play amps cranked up to 10. I don't see how anybody in their right mind could EVER purchase any acoustic guitar at a place like this. It is absolutely deafening to be there and you can't hear yourself at all! I played a couple of Froggy Bottoms at Hill Country's booth and I can say they felt good!
All this said, I'm sure I'll be at the Arlington show in October. It's an addiction.

i'll bet i saw you there bill. there was someone playing a couple of the fb's while i was talking to kevin anyway. not that i could hear what it sounded like--i was at least 2-feet away! anyone who is wanting to buy a guitar might as well buy one off the internet as far as trying to audition one in that madhouse!
this was my first guitar show. i've gone to a million gun shows in the same hall but i had to park nearly half a mile further back for this show. very crowded and i seemed to get continuously stuck behind young women pushing baby carriages. i had no idea there would be as many vendors as there were and i had to consult the map to find the hill country booth.
i spoke with kevin briefly. i'd be a nervous wreck babysitting all those fragile, high-dollar guitars for a weekend considering the high percentage of cowboy belt buckles, biker chain-wallets and nose rings. he told me my collings ought to pop out of the shop at least by the end of this month.
it was way too crowded for me and you couldn't hear anything anyway so i deemed it useless to play anything. there was a large outfit drove down from cincinatti (jk lutherie) who had a good selection of books and instructional materials so i bought a happy traum fingerpicking dvd, a happy traum flatpicking book from them and a couple of planet wave humidifiers and a little tripod-like device to hold the guitar neck up while changing strings from the d'addario distributer.

I went and came home, I'm headed back.
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get a Warrior. I've been looking at them for a year and a half now.
Holy Crap they are amazing.
Did you see the incredible deal on the Collings? They were in the back right corner being sold by some book writer?

did you find a 12? if you couldn't find one there i doubt you could anywhere.
didn't see any other collings. like i said, it was too crowded to browse. i don't tolerate crowds well.

Hi, Guy-that might have been me playing the Froggies. I heard Kevin talking to someone, but I mostly saw his lips moving as hearing anything (but loud distortion) was almost impossible! Parking was free (the good news), but I felt like we parked in Ft Worth after the walk! Glad you found some items to take home. Like Chris, I think the Warriors are spectacular guitars. They really had a nice booth at the show.

Okay, I ended up going for a little. If anyone goes back, check out the guitar center booth. They've got a T5 -- impressions :
It looks great!
it is very, very light weight
I was able to get a very cool tele sound out of it
I was able mucho feedback out of it :)
I was able to get a thick, chunky les paul sound out of it.
I didnot get a 100% acoustic sound of it, but I only got to play it for 5 minutes or so.
The guitar center booth also has 5 custom short scale X14s... 3 814s nd 2 614. It's easy to walk past them because they have "dots" on the necks instead of the artist inlays or the new 8 series inlays. However, they 814s have beautiful flame maple binding. They played great -- very fast action -- but I couldn't tell anything about the tone in there.
Chris-
If you go back, talk to the Taylor Rep. His name is "Jim", I think. See if you can convince him to bring the T5 to Houston nextweek.

Froggie's are really nice. I've liked every one I've played. Lots of personality.
If you liked that show, you will love the Arlington show, it's like 5x the size. :)

I went back but had to hurry! I spent my time at the Warrior Booth!
Daddys got a new child in the house! Oh Man!

I was there on Saturday...all day long!
I decided on catching some shows:
1. Oreo Blue
2. Michael Burks
...both had enjoyable shows!
3. Matt Eaton
4. Vinnie Moore
...well, I used to be into "shredders"...and they played great, but I was somewhat bored...
5. the guitar "jam" outside sounded like a train wreck...hated it...
6. Rick Derringer...not a fan, only knew "Hang on Sloopy" and "Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo", but his show was quite entertaining...AND IS a Warrior endorsee!
BTW, I didn't see the T5; but I just wasn't in a hurry to replace my Les Paul Deluxe AND my 410E for one either. (It's the only way I could get in the ball park of the T5's price! I'm more or less in the market for a Strat-style guitar with a full-size humbucker in the bridge.
o/t: this sounds crazy...I'm somewhat looking for a low-powered tube guitar amp, and after finding out that Joe Naylor and I have ethnic background(Filipino)...I've decided to seriously look into purchasing Reverend Goblin!

I spent 90% of my time at the Warrior booth behind the counter, I saw Rick Derringer and new he was "famous" but I was way too busy shopping!
I think he actually is working with JD on a signature or something.
Here is a link of him on the Warrior site.

Now if it had been Merle Haggard I would have not given him the cold shoulder during my purchase!
I just listened to "Sloopy", I guess I should have gotten his autograph! :D
