I thought perhaps, someone around SA might be interested in getting together once in a while to practice. I consider myself a beginner. I've been floundering around with a Taylor 410 for several years, just sort of stuck. I've taken some lessons and feel like a carpenter with a bunch of new tools and don't know what to do with them. I like country and blues, there's nothing wrong with oldies either. Heck, I grew-up on oldies. I live deep north SA, outside of 1604 off Blanco Road. ~Bill

Hey there Bill. :)
I live up in Canyon Lake personally, Phuufme (Steve) lives out in SA proper.
The band I rehearse with rehearses at Ampus Rehearsal Studios over off of Bandera and Mainland (~2 miles from 1604).
You should come out to the get together in Houston on April 16th, as Taygull suggested. My wife and I usually make the drive there and back the same day, it's not that bad really (but I can drive for hours nonstop :)).
There's some pretty good teachers and a few decent stores in the area as well, maybe we can work something out and sit down and jam a bit. :)

I won't be able to make it on April 16th. Believe it or not I'm going to a Sock Hop with a bunch of my ol' High School friends. One dance and call EMS and the fibulators ... LOL! ... I'm sure I'd be clueless to what you guys are doing. I'll keep checking over here and watching your post, so maybe I can link up with y'all next time. Looks like y'all have been getting together for a while now. I do appreciate you inviting me. ~Bill

Ah, too bad ya won't make it. :)
We get together maybe 2-3 times a year. It usually rotates to some degree between Houston-San Antonio-Dallas. Although we tend to have the best turnouts in Dallas as more people live in that area, I guess. :)

I think we can attribute the high turnout in Dallas to the shorts skirts @ Pugsleys! :D

And if the weather is nice the 16th It will be bikini season at the marina. Maybe we should do the song "Indian Lake" by the Cowsills.
You take a left at the bridge
Go down to quakerforn ridge
And in a minute you're there Indian Lake is a scene
You should make with your little one
Keep it in mind if you're lookin to find
A place in the summer sun
Sorry you can't make it Bill. Hope to see you next time. Its a lot of Fun at the Get Togethers meeting friends and playing Guitars.

I think that is where my younger brother fell a sleep on the beach about 32 years ago. He was severely sun burned. He had to be put face down on the hood of a car to take him to the Hospital. It was a clothes optional beach back then. Everything on him was burnt on the backside. I mean even every little thing was burnt on the back side. He was in the Hospital for a week.
If this is the same beach, then there would not be very much guitar playing going on.

Hey Bill, Steve here. I've been off the forum for a few days. I live in San Antonio just inside Loop 1604 at Bulverde Rd. Its too bad you can't make it to the get together in Houston -- they are lots of fun. I'll be making the drive leaving early on Saturday, in time for Guitarman's great food.
I'd love to get together sometime to jam or whatever. I play with a buddy of mine he plays a Yamaha), and we even have a few gigs a year. So, there could be a few of us. Maybe we could get together sometime in the next few months.

Hello Steve and thanks for your reply. If you don't mind putting up with a confused beginner, please keep me in mind whenever you have time, I'd like to get together. I hope you guys have a good turn out over in Houston. Y'all stay safe ~Bill
