Sometimes the best jams just happen!
That was the case yesterday. I got a call from a guitar playing friend who said that he was going to be in town and asked what I would be doing later. Even though my schedule was busy, I broke free and met at the local watering hole.
The place, the Iron Horse Pub, is downtown and has become THE place in Wichita Falls for live music. It has become such a favorite that recently Los Lonely Boys came back after their Tonight Show appearance but before their Grammy appearance to honor a previous committment.
Anyway, knowing the owners, I asked if we could bring our guitars in and jam in the stage area since that part of the bar is normally closed until later at night when the shows begin. (I had, on more than one occasion, suggested that it would be a lot of fun for them to host a regular jam back there early in the evening)
My friend and I played for about thirty minutes or an hour when I get a call from a guy who usually plays the open mics there and had been trying to get together for the past few months. What a coincidence. He came and joined us. The three of us played for another hour when Chris, yeah Chris, had to leave and make the two hour drive back to Dallas. Terry and I stayed until eight. We had a blast!!!
Leaving I saw a couple of other music buddies and told them what we'd been doing. They's like to join in sometime. I thanked the owners who said we'd be welcome anytime.
Even though I had some explaining to do when I got home, it was worth it. Chris (Taygull) thanks for coming to town. I guess I'll have to recriprocate now, huh?
