I plan to do a little shopping at Wildwood Music in Coshocton, Ohio this Friday (Feb 11)... actually picking up a Bourgeois Vintage D I have in layaway. I should be there between 1 and 3 PM. Not an offical get together, but if anyone can get Friday off and would like to play some great guitars in the best toy store in the galaxy (IMO), I'd love to see you there.

Have fun, Rodger. I wish I could go with you as I am interested in the new short scale models. Why don't you try a few out and let me know what they are like? Say hi to Don and Marty for me as well.
I am still loving the 714CES that I bought the last time I was there.

Hi Gene:
Long time - no see.
I'll try out some short scales for you. I don't see the cocobolo in your signature line... don't have it anymore?

Hey, Roger!
Tell Marty and Don hi for me! I plan to get up there later in the spring... have to work until 6 though, so a day-long drive is out in the morning...
Have a great time!

Talked to Don on the phone yesterday....he is a character!! I told him I knew you from the Forum, Wade and the price he quoted me went up by 20% (just kidding)
I have been trying to get over there for about two years, but their strange hours and being in the boonies (you have to want to get there) make it really tough......he got me excited when he told me he had a Larrivee with a 1 7/8 nut and then it ended up being an L-09 with a 1 13/16 (halfway there anyway) I would like to get there sometime (if you plan a trip Wade, keep me posted.....I have good friends in Dayton that I see regularly)

Its the 714 CES with Englemann. Remember that was a 2003 summer strummer special order? How's the Vintage D?

Hi Gene:
For some reason I thought you got an 814... now I remember the 714. Glad you're still enjoying it.
The Vintage D sounded better than I remembered it - it is so well-balanced. I couldn't be happier.
I tried out the 3 short scale Taylors they had:
* Koa/Engelmann
* Mahogany/Cedar
* Indian Rosewood/Engelmann
Each was a 30th Anniversary XXX model - all 3 small-bodied fingerstyle. Marty said she had some short scale dreads in order, but none in stock right now. I'm not a big fan of small, slothead guitars, so I'm not the best judge of these. I liked the Koa best, but I'm a Koa fan. Each looked great and had great playability. I didn't really care for the tone, but that's not surprising - I like dread tone.

Thanks for the review. Actually after seeing Doyle Dykes in Cincinnati last summer, I am kind of getting the hankering for a DDSM short scale. I'll keep looking. Doesn't cost anything to look for now.
Take care and enjoy the "D"
Gene
