How about the bottom one with Taylorstock 2002 August 9-10 on the front and the top one as it is on the back?

I can't go, so count my opinion for what it's worth... I think the basic idea is great, but Mike is apparently a lefty. ;) Try flipping the guitar over, even if it means the text has to go on the right side instead of the usual left.

That guitar looks the right way to me...just upside down thats all!
I didnt see the whole guitar thing at first...I thought it was just some squiggly lines and i was like uhhhhh ok.......but now I see it..it incorporates my pickguard idea, that makes me happy :)
My vote still goes for making "Taylorstock 2002" the dominant theme- for instance in this case, put Taylorstock 2002 where it currently says Taylor Guitar Forum, and then put the taylor guitar forum below the underline...

Ok, I think I've got it............
I like a mixture of buddiesorg and rsimper's ideas.
-How 'bout leaving the design on the front(that way we can use it for many other color shirts, including polo's) and changing the lettering on the back to read something like "Taylorstock 2002" above the line and "August 9, 10 - El Cajon, CA" below the line?
I like it! I think we have a winner. I'll do up the design tonight and send it off to J.R. asap. I have to admit, I'm always a sucker for subtle elegance. Maybe that's why I like the 700 series the best.........
Thanks again for the input guys,

Sound good, Mike! When we get a few designs to choose from, I'll put them up for vote. So far there's only two.... This will be up to the attendees to decide what kind of shirts we'll be wearing.
Ryan, do you want me to include your hand-drawn design as well or are you going to go back and modify it?
Also, just my personal opinion, but I don't like T-shirts that have a date on them to commemorate an event or something. I wouldn't mind something like that on a coaster or something, but not on a shirt. And I originally thought that using TaylorStock on the shirt would be a good idea but now it's starting to sour. People might read your shirt and go... "huh?" What is TaylorStock?

I like both of Mike's designs above. The guitar one is very cool, but I think the other works better on the front. Buddiesorg's arrangement makes a lot of sense.
Mike, one question: Does the guitar have to be a cutaway? :D

Yes- it HAS to be a cutaway Chris :)
They look MUCH cooler...especially on the GA body
heheheheheh :D
As for making the top guitar idea the back...I would consider changing the orientation of the guitar silhouette thingy...maybe to a diagonal, because that underline horizontal arrangement definitely has a "front of the shirt" feel to it...i like the simplicity of the cutaway GA with pickguard in an outline format...I wouldnt want to lose the essence of that design...just not at a horizontal orientation if its going on the back.

J.R. - I could go back to that thing 1000 times and it would never look any better...its more of just a basic guideline trying to get my pickguard idea on the drawing board.
The reason I like dates on shirts is that I like to think of them as souveniers, and putting the event/date on does that...takes it one step above a boutique novelty to me.
Its like going to a concert and buying the shirt that says "The Rolling Stones" versus buying the one that says "The Rolling Stones, Voodoo Lounge Tour" and lists the tourdate...Kinda helps keep the memory fresher in my mind.
Just my opinion though :)

I prefer there be no date also. (I'm with you JR... ) But to appease everyone....wasn't it mentioned that we'd be getting 2 t-shirts? Why not make one with a date and one without? I think I could live with that. It's a compromise. It's obvious not everyone will be happy, so let's do something that will make the largest majority happy. Just a thought.

Good idea, Jennifer. I'm not sure that this will be possible for a couple of reasons, but I'll certainly look into it. I hadn't considered that option before. I was thinking in terms of one artwork, two different colored shirts.

Ok-
I've sent J.R. the final version of this current design. It does have the date on it because this is considered an event shirt. We can come up with something that will be more of a TGF shirt that is not tied to an event, i.e. has no dates/places on it. I liked J.R.'s simple design on the black shirt. That lends itself well to using any other color shirts or ink color combos we could come up with.
I chose to leave the guitar's position as it is because of the redesign as the back and that I DID try it out in a vertical orientation and facing the other direction with the cutaway on the bottom side. The truth is it just didn't have the same magic for me in those other positions. It didn't flow right.
Yes, it has to be a cutaway. That's all I own!:) Actually, also because Taylor's pickguard and cutaway shape(especially on the GA body) are easily recognizable to TAS sufferers. True, one of mine is a florentine cutaway, but the other two are venetian, so majority rules.
What's the harm if somebody asks us "What's Taylorstock?" Just another chance to tell somebody about the guitars we all love. Besides, I always like telling people about my travels! I think it makes it extra cool for those travelling cross country!
As for the two shirts idea, the only real way this could happen is if when we have the shirts printed, some people opt only for one sided(front) shirts. It's actually pretty easy for the printing place to do, we just have to tell them how many of each to make. Perhaps for all those going, we could have those who DON'T want a date on their shirt speak up or say so in their registration confirmation so we have a solid number. It's early yet, but this is a way all could be happy.
Finally, this is just the second in a (hopefully) long line of designs from myself on shirts for the TGF and Taylorstock. Also keep in mind that I was never voted or chosen to be the only designer for shirts here. Anyone else who wants to contribute something, please feel free to submit. I've done this shirt thing so many times before it's just easy for me to whip something up rather quick. But I also like lots of input, as witnessed by the formation of this latest design.
We'll figure it out yet!

Better be careful! Someone somewhere on the planet might "read" something objectionable into this design as well.

Yeah you know, come to think of it, if you imagine it just right, the way the cutaway and the pickguard line up, it kinda looks like a matchin pair of something that might appear on any given chest...as if someone was laying on thier back with their feet elevated so they are facing mostly upward and a little to the left...anyone else see it? ;)

Ok-
Here's another design............
This one plays off of J.R.'s original design but uses everyone's favorite- the Cindy Inlay! This is the piece right at the 14th fret. Front only design, no back logo, no dates. Whadda y'all think?
(This JPG leaves a lot to be desired for detail, but you ge the idea!)
