Well, a couple of weeks ago I went and saw Russ's band "One Foot In" play at a Barnes and Noble Bookstore near his house.... I really enjoyed the preformance.

Afterwards I thought I really enjoy the AGF gatherings but so far we really have not done a real "Open Mic" time. So I talked to Russ and we both thought at the next gathering we want to have more time set aside for people to play a 15-25 min set depending on what you feel comfortable with. Maybe you'll play a couple of sets with various members...

I'd love to see Steve314 and Marklyn play some of their stuff.
How about Rebecca playing her songs. Hearing Chris (CPmusic ) and Linda play is also a real treat. I know Russ can entertain and who knows maybe the whole band (One Foot In ) will show up.
I know that many who made it last time if they had a mic in front of them they would have been able to share some nice things for the rest of us.

Don't think that you have to perform to come... we will have some time set aside just for the guitar circle playing that we have done in the past.
But with an added treat of hearing some enjoyable sharing of the heart of Music.

Are you interested?
Heck maybe this will be the one Jeffery & J.R. makes it to :)

Tell me what you think..... :)

I guess I'm afraid to answer. As a two-time stander-upper ( I missed the SD & LA gatherings due to WORK!), I don't have first-hand knowledge of these wonderful events. But, I would think having some sort of open mic capability would be fabulous. You could even make it a themed open mic...

Our local coffee house just put on a Beatles Tribute evening. WOW, it was great to hear so many talented folks play 1 or 2 of their versions of a Beatles tune. If the get-together would simply have a small PA setup and a theme, those wanting to could perform a couple of numbers. And too many themes are already coming to mind; 50's or British Invasion, or Hank Williams, or...

Good idea Mark.
What coffeehouse are you referring to?
I gig a lot of coffeehouses in LA area........
So will you make this Get Together???
Hope you can make it!

This is down in the Carmel Mountain Ranch area of San Diego. Yes, I will make the next gathering - even if I have to quit my job. :ha:

I really look forward to meeting someone that I can talk to on my level.
Hope that you do make the next gathering.

OK I've not posted too much hoping to see some interest.... but I guess that ain't happenin.

Russ, should we just set a date and see if they will come or should we wait until people are asking for a gathering? I was trying to do it before I start construction on the house which will probably be in May. If it is after that we will need to do it elsewhere.

HA! Yeah, I was thinking about that, too. But then I thought, Hey! What am I doing thinking?! So, I guess you'd win the battle. :ha:

Hello All:

I would love to hang out and hear you accomplished players do a few sets or whatever. I'm still really in the newbie status but would bring the 310 to try and learn something while I'm there :)

We will be on vacation during the school Easter break (3-25/4-1) and not available though. Other than that I'll come.

Me too. I hope I can make it.

I know how it is... The first gathering I thought I'd go to was a one of the camping trips.... I didn't make it..... The second one was the one at the Hotel..... didn't make that one either.

It is difficult to commit because life has it's changes by the day. Finally I just had it at my house so I couldn't get out of it. ;)

It's just like always we can set a date the "looks good for now" trying to keep that day open but if one of those priority changes come up I think everyone understands.

So, What looks good for now?
Ken, when is inbetween classes?

Let's just put up some dates (all Sat.) and see what the response is....
3/19.....4/9....4/16

Russ, are these dates OK?

Livinright ... any of these work for now?

Steve314 & Marklyn can you guys make it?

It has always been hard to get the ball rolling but once it gets going we end up having a good time...

I would really like to make one of these. I apologize for not being able to the last two or three times. March 19 is out for me, but I think that the April dates would work fine (as long as it is not the first weekend of April). I am happy to participate in the Open Mic as well.

My apologies -- I keep forgetting to check the calendar. I have a bunch of things all balled up in March and April, and I don't want to make a commitment without being reasonably sure I can keep it.

I'm fairly new to the forum and I just viewed photos that Koaguitarman sent me of the last get together. From the posts, it sounds like everyone had a great time. I haven't seen so many guitars in one room outside of a music store. To play, share, learn a few things, meet new friends, and listen to great music sounds like an afternnoon well spent. If I'm available, I'd like to come to one of the next get togethers.

We are still planning a gathering which will be one of these two days 4/9 or 4/16
Let's hope the rain stops by then ;)

I've just been letting it slide waiting for the time to get a little closer so we could better choose which day works best. If one day works better than the other please state your preference.

Steveh427
Sorry that I didn't post sooner but it would be great to have you join us.
There is always room for another Steve :)
