There has been a lot of threads, comments and discussions on the different types of woods and the construction technique (IE: 2 vs 3 piece backs, etc.) It seems that some believe that the combinations of the wood type and the construction technique can have a definate effect on the tone and quality of the guitar. Some, believe that it has nearly no effect. To me, it looks like a split decision.
Hence, we MAY have an opportunity at Taylorstock to prove or disprove some of these ideas. So, here's an idea. I was thinking that it might be interesting to have a "Blind Sound Test". Here's how it might be conducted. Put a screen on the stage of the Performance Venue. Have 8 or 10 guitars behind the screen with one guitarist. Have this person play the exact same song on every guitar. The audiance could have a form that they evaluate each guitar. For instance:
1) Which model are you listening to?
2) What wood is it?
3) Is it a 2 or 3 piece back?
Do this for each guitar and then compair the results with the actual guitar. I think this would yield some very interesting results!:) Yadda ya think gang?
