and I was wondering if anybody could tell me about some cool places to check out live music. Acoustic preferred. I'll be down there Jan 3-7 and am looking to not be bored stiff!! Any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks,

Don't know about music in Mobile, but you have the opportunity to check out the WWII South Dakota-class battleship, USS Alabama (BB-60) and WWII Albacore-class "fleet" submarine, USS Drum (SS-228) at Battleship Park (http://www.ussalabama.com/). I, for one, wouldn't miss it.

Thanks Bob!! I don't think I will get out of the meetings in time to catch the tours but I'll give it a whirl!! I am in meetings until 4:30 or 5:00 every day. I did manage to find some music stores in case I really get a hankering to play (and I know that will happen). Thanks again!
Jim
Try MMI Music, or a smaller store, West Mobile Music. Been awhile since I lived there, and don't remember too much live stuff. Might want to call them and ask about good music going on.
A good off beat place to eat...Jerusalum Cafe, on Airport. Try the Hummus with Gyro meat, and a Greek Salad, with a bowl of Lentil soup. The Oyster Bar out on the Causeway used to be good also. Good gumbo.
