Just wondered how many folks in the Houston area would be interested in a get-together?? I think it would be nice to meet some members, see some guitars and hear some pickin'. Anyone interested??

absolutely! I'll be home from school from the 16-1st ;)

It'd be neat to be able to have a large gathering, with a nice venue and open mic etc. like what was it - monroestock? Since I am student teaching in Lubbock in the Spring, I probably wouldn't be able to help much with planning, but I'd love to try and help with what I can.

We usually do it once or twice a year and rotate it between Dallas, Houston, & San Antonio.

We had a real good turnout at the last one in Dallas.

They are a bunch of work to organize and a bunch of people say they are coming and then don't show up leaving those who attend having to cover the expenses. The last one in Dallas was not so bad because of a large turnout!

Name the place and date...and I'll TRY to make it there...
OR how'bout trying to merge the Houston Jam as part of a Taylors of Tejas Jam...
just a thought...

I'm interested, too.

After the holidays, for anything sizable.

Wade can stay with me, as long as he bathes first. Stinky. :p

I'll be there, just say when. :)

Does anyone in the Houston area have the space for a get-together?? Or perhaps someone that knows of a place????

My guitar teacher has a deal with a local bar where he gets an open mike night one Saturday per month. He provides the PA system and usually has a drummer and keyboard player sit in for an all-night jam session. The bar may be willing to open early for a Taylor gathering follwed by the regular jam session for those who wish to keep going. I will inquire over the weekend and see what they have to say. The bar is called "Our Hideaway" not to be confused with the numerous other Hideaway bars in Houston, and is located in the middle of nowhere near Beltway Eight and Hillcroft (12403 Hillcroft).

I think the next date scheduled is January 8th, but again I would need to check and see.

If we can come up with a date and time for a Houston get-together, are there any Dave Matthews fans out there? I would really like to play the live at Luther College versions of "Say Goodbye" or "Ants Dancing with someone being my Tim Reynolds!

Thanks, David

the Houston faction of "Fenderforum.com" is thinking of doing a jam too...
I would like to suggest having a Houston jam big enough for 2 sides: acoustic and electric...

That is what we did last time I had it in Dallas, we had a great event and it cost us less than $20 per person and we had it at a great sports bar. This place had several large private rooms we used!

Does this gathering have legs? Is it really going to happen? I'm in San Antonio, and, depending on the lead time, I could and would probably make it (to keep my 100% TX gatherings record intact).

Oh yeah, and Jeffrey will bring his K14, right?

....and I might try to make only to keep my 100% record in tact. I'll also bring my new custom shop 610!

It is about time one of you more "southern boy" put together a real kick butt get together! We need "guitarman" back so he can cook some "dad's and tater's"!

I could get interested in a get-together of some sort in the Houston area...

Just a guy strumming around while making cats and dogs howl along the bay...the only thing worse than my playing is my singing. Wonder if that's why the guys never let me near a mike?

Happy holidaze,
Nate

Does anyone interested in a Houston get-together have a take yet on a place?? I wish I knew of a good place, but I don't. Besides - I'm a pretty good drive out of Houston. Somewhere in the city would probably be more convenient for everyone. Maybe we could just rent a small hall or something?? I'd be happy to chip in.

Chris, come on down.

Can't you take a Joke! :D

You guys need to check out the sports bars.

Pugsley's is "related" too Cape Buffalo in Dallas. If you are aggressive you can negotiate a pretty good deal.

You need to remind the venue how there will be 15-20 people who will all eat lunch, buy some beer or soft drinks and such.

I'll do a search and see if I can find a Cape Buffalo in Houston.

I could not find a "related" space. I'll check with my sister and brother in law, they may know of a place.

Heck, if it turns out there is only going to be a few people we could do it at my mothers house. We did not grow up together....long story..maybe someday.

I'm no help here. The last Dallas fling at Pugsley's was the first time I'd even been in a bar (not counting places like Chili's) in years.

If I went into a sports bar around here and asked about doing a Gathering on a Saturday afternoon, they'd probably say something like, "I've never seen you in here before. Take a hike!"

Well - I don't know how everyone would feel about driving to Lake Jackson, but I've checked and there are several halls that can be reserved for not too much $$$. Might be a way to have a little more of a private affair so that everyone can spend time chatting (and, of course checking out each others guitars!!). I can get a small PA so that anyone who wants to jam can do so. Again - some may feel that's too far to drive - so check your maps and let me know what you think. I'm sure we can make it a pretty good time for everyone. Y'all let me know!!
