I'm new as this forum (it's awesome) so I'll ask: Who has attended these gatherings and are they had often? Any in NY/NJ in the recent past or future?

Never a NJ that I've seen. Was hoping though. There is a recent thread with some guys hoping to get together at Mandolin Brothers on Staten Island. I can't cause I am working.

Hi and welcome!

Every once in a while it seems someone comes into NYC and they get in touch with me and we get together for a cup of coffee and a walk trough the 48th street guitar stores. I've done that about a half dozen times.

Dodo suggested we do a get together and there was a tentative plan for a few folks to get together at Mandolin Brothers www.mandoweb.com on Sat Dec 11, but it seems like nobody can make that date, so I am guessing sometime after the holidays will work better for more folks?? I will be traveling a lot during Dec and Jan.

If you want to organize it, PLEASE DO! That way you will get to know a bunch of great folks here on the Forum! :)

OK Joe, Manhattan works by me! We should say mid January on a weekend. Question is where. Maybe if everyone chipped in a few bucks, we could get some food and drink. Gary

Mid January is very doable for me. Better than Mid-December actually.

Shall we can the idea of Dec 11 and go for something in January??

Ok, it's approaching ... There's a place downtown called the C-Note on Ave C. I've never been, but you can go there, plug in, and jam with folks and have a drink or two.

So who's planning this thing? I am more or less unfamiliar with the NY scene other than having gone to 48th street a couple of times. I'm pretty sure the 15th-16th or 29th-30th would be cool with me if we're doing it.

Sounds good to me too. I was in The City just before Christmas to see Mamma Mia, and noticed the music shops on 48th street, but they were closed. I'd like to have a chance to check them out.

Ah man guys!!! I'm from Arizona, and I'm out visiting with a girlfriend, who's going to college in NY. We'll be in the city on the sunday the 16th. :p Figures I always miss stuff by one day :-P

Yes I am in the UMGF, I'm the guy who asked you about the stand your guitar was on in the photo. I have # 26, and I absolutely love it. I plan on coming to NY on the 15th unless something inconvienient like work gets in the way! Hope to see you then,

Not to derail the NY gathering, but The Acoustic Guitar forum is on their third Jersey Jam in central NJ. It's tomorrow, Feb 11th, but you might want to watch there for another. Here's the general forumn entrance-just search their "Gatherings" category for NJ or Jersey Jam.
