Come on Joe (Meridian) let's get something together. :D
Who's in?
Even a cool little tour of some NYC guitar shops like Joe did last year would be cool. Something, anything.

I'd probably come up to New York for that -- provided it wasn't Sat. Nov. 20 when I'm going to the Phily Guitar Show. MB on a Sat. before the weather gets too wintery is on my list of fall activities.

Sounds good to me.
What time? Wanna get together for a quick lunch around there before/after?
Why not announce it and ask for sign-ups? Wanna invite some of the folks from the UMGF, too? After all there's hardly any Taylors at Mando Bros. ;)

Probably O.K. for me too. Let's talk time/lunc? because if I'm going to MB, I want to contact them about some appraisal and repair work and wouldn't want to miss any of the "festivities."

Sure. There's a lefty d18-ge at Mandolin Bros ;)
I think it would be great if you invited some Martin folks. Fine by me.
I'm not sure how to announce it. I'm also not sure how I should travel. Normally I just take the LIRR right into Penn. I've never taken the train to SI before. How do i do it?

George, I haven't done it by train either, but probably will be this time as I expect I will have sold my car by then.
I'd say check out the website which I believe is www.mandoweb.com for directions.
To use the Staten Island Ferry (on foot only, you can't take your car on the boat), catch a boat from South Ferry (Battery Park) at the southern tip of Manhattan. The trip across the Harbor takes about 30 minutes including docking. Walk up the ramp (along with the rest of the people) and you will see a number of bus ramps. You want Ramp C - the one with the #48 Bus listed on it. Take the #48 Forest Ave bus around 15 minutes, asking the driver to let you off at The Social Security Building - on the corner of Forest and Pelton Avenues. We're one block further, corner of Forest and Oakland Avenues - #629 Forest Av. OR you can follow the sign for TAXIs in the ferry terminal and take a cab that will charge you around $8 (plus tip if you are inclined, and it's expected) to take you to #629 Forest Ave, corner of Oakland. 5 or 6 minutes. Note: Staten Island Ferry boats no longer carry cars -- only passengers.
By Public Transportation
Take any one of the following subways to the Staten Island Ferry.
#1 (7th Avenue IRT) to South Ferry station South Ferry is the last stop on this southbound (downtown) local train. Get on one of the front cars; the last four or five cars do not open at the South Ferry. The Ferry terminal entrance is right above the subway exit.
#4 or #5 (Lex IRT) to the BOWLING GREEN station Get on the front of the train and walk right when you come off the train. You'll come up at the northeast corner of Battery Park. The Ferry terminal is directly ahead of you, a brief walk south along the edge of the park.
R, N or M (BMT) to Whitehall station Get on the front of the train and bear right past the token booth when you reach the upper level to exit. You'll see the Ferry terminal across the street.
There is no charge to take the Ferry which is now free both ways.
When you reach Staten Island, follow the crowd off the boat to the bus ramps. Take the #48 Forest Ave. bus to Pelton Ave. (about a 15-minute ride). Walk one block towards Oakland Avenue, until you come to the beige stucco building at 629 Forest Avenue, with the MANDOLIN BROS. sign on it.

Sorry, can't make the 11th. After the holidays would be better...once the shopping is over (and the sales are on! :) ).
