If you haven't seen the TAYLOR PERFORMANCE ROOM (http://www.taylorguitars.com/news/company.html#co3), take a look at the link. Pretty Cool. I would guess this is where we'll be meeting at Taylorstock 2002.

I'm going down to Taylor tomorrow (Monday) to get a look at it!

Well, I went down to Taylor today (had to get a new Taylor t-shirt, doncha' know), and got a chance to check out the performance venue in the 1400 building.

It has a short stage; maybe 2-1/2 feet high or so, and some nice stage lighting. According to the Jeff Simpson, the gentleman who was showing it to me, there was some sound equipment which, although normally there, was absent.

The room itself is acoustically "spot on". Soft discussions could be heard from across the room (good or bad, I guess, depending on your perspective in said conversation). The back wall was, for lack of a better word, "wavy". The ceiling had sound deadening tiles placed all over, although the whole ceiling was not covered in them (as far as I could tell).

The far wall has doors, with frosted glass, leading to the outside. While I was there (around two in the afternoon), this allowed a great deal of glare into the room. I also have to wonder what it does to the room acoustically. But hey, far be it for me to second guess the guy who designed the place. Apparently, he's got a pretty impressive resume.

The nicest thing about the venue is that there are guitars EVERYWHERE! This is where Taylor keep there NAMM display cases, and everyone of them houses guitars here, just like they do at NAMM.

Seating is nothing fancy; metal chairs abound. With no people sitting in them, I'm sure there would be a certain reflective quality to them. With people in them, though, I think that'll be negated.

Overall, it looks like a GREAT place for Q&A/open-mic stuff. Standing there in the room, I was ready to sign up for a time slot already, AND I SUCK!

Anyway, just thought you folks like to hear about it...

OK, I got my hands on some very high quality pictures of the
Taylor VIP Performance Venue (http://www.w5blt.com/Venue/TaylorVenue/TaylorVenue.htm). Take a look and see what you think.

HAVE PATIENCE. For those of you with slower modems, it may take a little while. But, IT'S WORTH THE WAIT!!:) :) :)

Yeah, the Performance Venue is pretty cool. They have some nice lighting set-ups, too. Somebody's going to have to get pictures of me at open-mic, just so I can, at least, look like I've played on a big stage.

Which brings up another question (which I think I already know the answer to): after Taylorstock has come and gone, is there a website planned, to which we'll be able to send photos, etc.?

I plan on having two cameras at open mic. My digital will be perfect for getting those shots for any proposed website. I'll be bringing along a film camera, too, for taking "money shots". You know, those are the shots with the guitarist in the foreground, concert lighting behind him (or her).

As a public service (and, provided my daughter allows me the use of her Canon), I'd mail these photos out to attendees gratis...
