I'm not so great at organizing so what I know is Russ (koaguitarman) is bringing Chicken for the burritos and I'm supplying the beef..... I think Rebecca (Rejoice Music ) is bringing the Salsa ... after that you tell me what your bringing and whatever we are missing there is a Von's nearby.

Yes, I will bring the salsa......homemade (at least a half gallon of it). Someone, please be sure to volunteer for the tortilla chips (Costco....the super large bags!). Salsa without chips, well.............you know. ;)

I'll find something to bring.
I'll bring some soda, napkins, and probably some type of as-yet to be determined side dish. Oh, I'll bring Marklyn, too!
Hey Marklyn, I'm thinkin' we pull outta' Carlsbad around 10:00-10:30 or so. The shindig starts at noon, so that'll make us "fashionably late"...

The store I work at just had an employee bash, and there wasn't a vege or piece of fruit to be found. Nothing but chips, dips, and burgers. I know that's all good with you guys, but it'd be cool (literally!), if someone brought a vege plate, salad, sliced fruit, you know. Things that won't 'kill' us. ;)

Okay, I'm bringin' the veggie plate!!!!! Hey, I don't want Rebecca to starve.
Honest question: Imbibing: Cool? Uncool? I plan on getting tanked and letting Marklyn drive home. Okay, not really.
Seriously... just wondering, provided it's done in moderation?
Steve
Just curious...anyone bringing any bluegrass instruments? If there is going to be some bluegrass jammin I can bring my acoustic bass....it's a typical bluegrass bass...it only knows 3 chords but they work for most bluegrass songs!! :D

I'm 99% sure I'll be there. My girlfriend might come along; she doesn't play guitar, but she does play the fiddle (some old-time, some Celtic), so I might be able to interest her. If anyone's interested in Celtic music, I can bring along my bouzouki and hammered dulcimer.
I can bring fresh fruit -- apples, oranges, grapes, bananas, that kind of thing.

We haven't had any big partys where people were out of control here on the compound since Mom and Dad took a 3 month vacation... Of course that was 1972 and it took another 6 years before I regained control :D
JimC.... My Dad would love you for gettin some bluegrass stuff going. Me, I don't speak the language. ;)

There is no food on the planet that I like better than.......sushi!! Bring it on....sashimi.....anything. I love it all (especially the raw fish). I know this will change many folks perception/amicability towards me, but what can I say? If your wife is a Japanese sushi chef, I may never leave! ;)

Living in So. Cal (especially this area) puts you right near many Japanese Markets. We buy good fresh fish bi weekly for some good Sashimi. Hamachi (yellowtail) and Maguro (Tuna) are my favorite but I'll eat most any of it. :)
If I may interupt here...
mmm sushi!!!!
... you may now return to your discussion. ;)

I've never understood the allure of sushi. Hey, if it's dead, throw it on the grille; that works for me. The closest I've ever gotten to eating sushi was when I had to eat Van DeKamp's pork and beans right out of the can; no fire to heat 'em up.
As far as Bluegrass instruments, I just got a mandolin which I can bring. It's just a cheapie "Montana" brand (from Kaman), and I've no idea if it's set up correctly or not. Still, I'll huck it in the van...

I'm planning on coming for a while in the afternoon (I can't stay late because I'm going to see one of my favorite singer/songwriters at McCabe's that night). I can bring some soda or Crystal Geyser or something like that.

Sandy,
I'm glad you are going to make it for a while at least....
Who are you going to see that might be better than our own special premier Artists? ;)

This is looking much too eclectic. I think I'll try to reel in this big group of obstreperous guitar players. It seems we need to have a food theme here. Why don’t we go for an SOB theme, you know - Mexican? (South Of the Border.) We can do tamales, enchiladas, churros, taquitos, hauchinango, tortas, chips and salsa, guacamole, carne asada, fish tacos, Kalua, Dos Equis and Margaritas! (I may have lost many of you in the beginning of the list, but I bet I brought you all back at the end!)
Well?

Hey Steve... Thanks for the focus.... I've always had trouble with that.
That was and still is the theme (South Of the Border.) We did get off on a discussion about Sushi . My wife ( who is Japanese) decided to help a little with Rebeccas request for something more than meat. So she will provide a small diversion from the theme. OK so now back to focusing...
That is a pretty good list you provided. :)
We need to have a post showing what is being brought that it can be updated but I'm too tired tonight to go through everything to post it.
Maybe tomorrow.

I've got a mando I'll bring. A tolerable quality kentucky, but it doesn't sound too bad. I've also got a really cheap banjo that I'll throw in the car as well. I don't really know how to play it, though. Not even 100% sure that it's tuned right. gGBDg, right?
Jim, can you walk on an acoustic bass, too? Would be fun to do some jazz.
So what do we still need in the refreshments department? I can bring whatever's needed.
It'll just be me coming. My wife's incredibly non-musical and thinks I'm a total geek for going to an internet guitar party.

Richard Shindell. He lives in Argentina and only visits California about once every other year (and only plays one evening in the L.A. area).
But I do look forward to meeting all of you. I only wish Ginger the Tasmanian Wonder Dog could come.

Hey, c'mon now. I'm already bringing Marklyn. How many dogs do you want me to fit in the van???
Hey Marklyn, just kiddin', pal!
Seriously, Ginger's 13, and a long road trip wouldn't be in her best interests. If she were younger, though...

Well, we are bringing the BBQ grilled chicken......http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/16/16_3_122.giffor the burritos.
I will bring my sound system, 4 or 6 mics w/stands, bunch of Koa guitars, washtub bass, acoustic/electric bass (Koa), 2 chihuahua's for atmosphere (just kidding), and then in the trailer there will be lots of....................
Oh yeah, Koa Lady will be coming also.
Dennis, let me know if you need some tortilla's for the burritos. Or whatever you can think of for us to bring.

Dennis, please don't let your wife go to all this trouble for me! I like meat just fine. I was just suggesting some veges and fruits to go along with all the heavier foods, you know, to lighten things up a bit calorie-wise. Didn't mean to give the impression that I was vegetarian, or anything.
I always love sushi, but really, if the theme is Mexican, I'll be great if we stick with that, and let Shoko off the hook. I'm sure she'll have plenty of things to do before and after. Tell her thanks though, for the kind offer. :)
