Guys and Gals,

Do to the large predicted turnout I have made a "corporate" decision to change the venue. I was able to secure http://www.pugsleys.com/ for the get together.

We have had it there before and it is a great venue. We will have the same 2 rooms with doors that join them together. We will set up a "PRO Sound System" so we can do Open Mics. The other room can be used for Jamming, Chatting or what ever. The cost is a little more than the other place but please don't let that stop anyone from coming. We will take donations to cover the cost. I know I can count on the regulars to help.

The good thing is this will be about 30 miles closer to almost everyone.

Checkout the link and let's talk it up and get excited!

JR, I'M GLAD YOU ARE COMING! JUST BRING SOME GREAT LOOKING GUITARS!

I really enjoyed Pugsley's last year. It is a great place, especially if a PA is going to be set up in the other room. I'm looking forward to it!!!!

Is there still going to be an opportunity for workshops or seminars for the beginners? I see from all the posts there will be some electrics involved. Would it benifit the beginners to bring an electric also or just our acoustics?

Sweet, I'll bring some sticks too.

I like playing drums almost as much as guitar. :)

Littledonnie,

I will talk Chip into doing a small clinic, I would also beat some of us can help. Bring along some chord charts of your favorite songs. That is the best way to start.

If you don't know where to find them post the names of the songs you like and I would think some of us already have them.

I'll help if I can, I'm not sure how though.

I mostly just make a buncha noise. :)

My wife wants to know if the meeting rooms in question are smoky or not.

Could be a deal-breaker for her, and would severely limit how long I would be willing to stick around, and how long I would be willing to subject my instruments to that environment; she's really sensitive to smoke. I am, too, but not as badly.

Last time we were at Puglsey's it was really nice. I don't recall any smoke at all...I'm not even sure if they allow it inside. Course, I have a hard time remembering by birthday sometimes...so don't county on my memory. But I honestly don't remember any smoke at all.

Larry,

The private rooms we can make smoke free. Also since we will be there first thing Saturday, 12:00 the smoke won't be a problem.

I use to eat lunch there 3 times per week and the smoke never bothered me.

With respect to the instrument thing, most musicians who gig have their instruments in a "smokey bar" and the short exposure does not hurt them or "fragrance" them. Even if it were heavy smoke the guitar would air out very quickly.

Last time "Larry Morgan Music" brought about 10 new Taylor’s and sat them out for everyone to jam with. There was NO noticeable smoke.

Larry,

Pugsleys is within 15 minutes of 2 or 3 great malls. If your wife get's bored there is plenty to do. The rooms are seperated with private AC.

the new location might even be close enough for me (the perpetually lost one) to find. i know how to get to 12 and where 35 & 635 intersect, at any rate.

the original location was out of my driving and traffic comfort range.

This is very easy to get too, let me know if you need specific directions. Where are you coming from?

OK Guys here is what I was thinking we would do:

11:30 - 12:30 Setup

12:30 - 2:00 Meet and Greet- Light Jamming - Practice

1:30 - 2:30 Volunteer Instruction/Clinic (This would be great for beginner & Advanced stuff)

2:30 - 5:30 Open Mic (I think it would be cool if anyone who wants to be prepared to do 2 or 3 songs)

5:30 - 8:00 Jamming, Socializing, Eating, Drinking (oh yeah...you can do this from 12:00-8:00! :D )

By no means is this "set in stone" we can fly by the seat of our pants all day if you want but I think it would be great if we had some sort of plan.

Let's talk about CASH!

The room will cost $160.00, Typically we just split it up by how ever many people show up. I don't want ANYONE to not come because of the money. I know I will toss in what ever is needed. I have seen some people donate $30 and some donate $5.00. When you come in just give me what you are comfortable donating and I will keep a list (private). Once we get all the money anyone who donated more than the "average cost per person" after we have enough money collected will get a refund!

Now that we have the "business" part out of the way, let's have fun!

Invite any friends or family you wish. Kids are welcome as this is a sports bar/restaurant!

SOUND OK?

We're still working on logistics. It's hard to plan out-of-town things when you have two indoor dogs, and the male is getting close to senile.

I'll be there, looking forward to it. :)

I need to practice and brush up my chops some. I haven't played in about 3 weeks after moving. I caught a 400lb refrigerator on my left forearm (it was falling down the stairs and I was holding on to the appliance dolly). So my left arm has been pretty tight/stiff since. It feels better though, so I need to clean up my playing before the weekend! :)

I can always play drums too. :D

Chris: whatever is need, just let me know. I have no problem chipping in whatever is needed.

Hey Jeffrey!

Maybe we all have a better chance of keeping up with you if you play one handed! :D

I'm not worried about you chipping in!

It looks like we are going to have a nice turnout. I know of at least 7 - 8 locals that are coming!

I met a guy at my wife's aunts wedding reception, I think this guy would give you a run for your money Jeffrey, I invited him and I hope he shows up. He and his older brother did an hour impromptu "house gig", they were amazing.

I resemble that remark.

Quite a few TGF members met me at the Lake Houston bash last year. It's just that I'm not very memorable.
