The purpose of this group is to organize jam sessions, gatherings, and other ongoing accoustic guitar related activities in Georgia, USA.
(I seem to be posting this just after Little Brother posted the announcement for his jam, which is purely coincidence. Either that or several Atlanta area musicians were feeling the need for this activity in anticipation)
The yahoo group can be joined at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rmmga_Atlanta_Gathering/
We've arranged to be able to use the Crimson Moon Coffee House in Dahlonega from noon-6pm on Saturday's, as long as there isn't another scheduled activity (historically we could get it 3 Saturdays each month).
http://www.thecrimsonmoon.com.
We'll look for other places to hold jam sessions near Atlanta.
The desire to start a group like this began as a discussion at the rec.music.makers.guitar.accoustic newsgroup.

Man I wish you the best and I would love to try and make other jams in the state. I will watch this and if you need anything from me let me know. Thanks so much for making the effort.

A RMMGA email list was recently created to give accoustic guitar players an opportunity to play together in the north Georgia / Atlanta area.
Here's a link to the email list:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rmmga_Atlanta_Gathering
Please join if you're nearby and interested in playing together.
Different styles and skill levels are welcome. Fingerstyle, bluegrass, classical, country, folk, folk-rock, what have you? With or without vocals. Origonal or covers. Share some fun times, learn a few new tunes, make some new friends.
Practice for LB's gathering in September is in order!
Lets kick this off next Saturday, June-26.
We can meet at The Crimson Moon Coffee House (Dahlonega, Georgia) at 1pm and play until 6pm.
http://www.thecrimsonmoon.com
Come early, come late. Bring a friend or come alone.

Is the September Jam in Conyers still on? I haven't been able to make the Dahlonega Jam yet but hope to sometime. I do plan to make the Big Jam in Conyers.

Next rmmga Dahlonega, GA Jam on Saturday, Oct 2
This group now has 26 members. Join or read prior messages at:

The August jam on the 21st had a very low turn out. In fact, except for a friend of mine (an excellant studio guitarist, Ed Keith) no one showed up. Y'all missed it.
I'd like to have some discussion of why people aren't attending? There seems to be good interest in having the jams, but then low attendance. If Dahlonega is too far north, please suggest/organize/discuss alternate venues? I'd just as soon someone else jump in and help out. Does someone have a basement/deck/community room that would do for a jam? mid-week? What do you want to do?
Oct 2nd appears to be the best time to hold the next Dahlonega Jam. Again from 1-5pm. The weather in Dahlonega is usually great in October.
Jam as usual at http://www.thecrimsonmoon.com/
Sept 18 is the Dahlonega Fall Festival, and Oct 16 will be Gold Rush Weekend, there will be professional musicians playing both those weekends, as well as the usual Dahlonega pick-up bluegrass & country jams playing around the town square.
Remember Little Brother's jam in Conyer's on Sept 17-18-19.

Please let me know if you're interested in the 2-Oct Jam.

We had a great time in October. A couple of guys who did Hootenany type

I'll be looking for this to happen on the forgotten south side. Dahlonega is a nice little town, but a bit of a haul. Keep us posted.

I keep hoping to find a group willing and anxious to get together in the Savannah area.
I'm willing to host the first one if someone out there can sell the idea and bring out at least a half-dozen pickers (a few grinners would be OK, too.)
Any interest?

Not a dirty word, in fact a good place to do some jamming I would expect. Its a long drive from Dahlonega. Maybe we can find someone in Augusta to hold a jam at the halfway mark?

Somehow I missed posting here. Sorry. We had great jams in both July and August in Dahlonega. Things may slow down (less than 10 people) a bit the next couple months, but we'll go forward with the monthly jams none-the-less. I'll post the date for Sept as soon as possible.

cotten,
The new Larrivee D-10bz was supposed to be shipped last week, but it didn't happen. I doubt that I'll have it by this coming saturday. I've been waiting 4 months, so I'll just continue to have patience. This is only the second time I've ordered a guitar that had to be made for me.
There should be a good jam on Sept-24th, you should try to make it if possible, let me know if there's anything I can do for you? Several of us will go out to dinner after the jam and then go to a Darrell Scott show 2 blocks away at the Buisson Center in Dahlonega.

I'm pretty busy with things here in Charlotte, looks like, through the end of this year, but the Atlanta area's not too bad a drive. I'm thinking if y'all down there are still getting together early next year I can try and swing down there for the good time. If anyone has an email list (looks like there might be one), feel free to add me. PM me and I'll send my email address.
Thanks!
