Its been a busy week so I am just getting around to posting.
Last Saturday we had another great group of people and a nice sampling of guitars. We added to the collection a 414ce and a Gibson special edition that was in a high string set-up (aka, Nashville tuning). Three new folks joined the group - Bluepoet and his wife (Chris and Ellen), and Aaron brought his friend, A.J. We had some really good musicians, wonderful guitars, a mandolin, great tunes, pizza and a birthday cake for Peter (LOTF). What a great way to learn some new licks and new tunes.
Next time we have to find an acoustic bass to round out the sound.

I fully concur, Steve...it was a great time!! I hated to leave--that's one way I always know I'm having fun...wonderful playing all those guitars--especially your 12-string and that Koa (Charisse's?)...made my 414ce jealous!! :D
Everyone sounded good, too...and, the pizza was great!! Next time I'm buying, ok?
Hope we can get more to come next time...
I need to see that "walking bass" line again
What kind of mando was that, anyway? It was an unusual wood, at least one I hadn't seen before...
Later...

Hi Chris,
Charisse bought the 12 string cocobolo GA, the KLSM koa, and the mando before we were married, so they are technically hers, even though she will tell you they are ours.
The mando is a Weber Gallatin with the maple upgrade (as opposed to mahogany back and sides). For those who are unfamiliar with these mando's, the Gallatin is an F-style with a carved spruce top and is unbound. With the maple back and sides, it is an all blonde colored mandolin. It has a striking beauty in its simplicity. And it is really opening up nicely.
It was nice to meet you and Ellen. It was great that you both could make it. Charisse is still raving about your rendition of the Tim Buckley song, "Phantasmagoria."
Let's plan AG III for June 12 if everyone can make it. I may be able to get us a bass player and percussionist to back us up. It would be cool if we also added some of the Arizona people who said they were interested but haven't made it yet; also, some of the California folks if they can make it over. And anyone else who might be in the Phoenix area at that time....
And I promise I'll get some pics from both I and II up later tonight....
Chris, it was great meeting you and Ellyn and I hope you'll be able to make it again.

I'll definitely want to come...
I might even go "crazy", and put some new strings on...
I'll also bring my old Ibanez Dread...maybe you guys could have a look and tell me if I should bother tryin' to fix her--again...(got sharp frets, maybe needs a new nut, etc.)--ok?
Later,
Chris
