TGF So Cal Campout

I'm thinking we should all go up to Hurkey Creek one weekend in June. If you want to come, please let me know what weekends will and will not work in May.

For those that don't know, Hurkey Creek is located between Hemet and Palm Springs, near Lake Hemet on Highway 74. It is about 4,400 feet up in the mountains. It is easy to get to. Weather should be wonderful. The campsite offers 100 campsites, with restroom and shower facilities and can accommodate large RV's. Any questions?


Reservations: When we decide on a weekend, to reserve campsites call the toll-free reservation hotline (800) 444-PARK, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific Time, seven days a week.

Steve, I don't want to let this go unanswered all day, but I don't have my calendar with me right now and don't know what's open. I'm pretty sure I'm booked the first weekend in May, and I think I need to keep the second and third clear, too. I'll post more later.

Hey Steve, if I were a "few" miles more West than I am, I could go for a SoCal cookout/campout.. We could even try out some of Bob's camp cooking ideas..... Salmon, anyone? And we could run through some Steve Goodman stuff.. (I get asked to do Vegimatic, a lot.:)) Hey I got that DVD of Steve..... great stuff!!

April's out for me, Steve. June would be better all around for me. One of my jobs ends at the end of the school year. Whew!

Seriously, there are bathrooms; no showers that I recall. But hey, part of the fun of camping is washing all that woodsy funk off you when you get home!

This is just a "feeler" thread to see what works best. For me it is May, but June works good too. It looks like Steve314 and Rebecca are OK with June. So any idea what weekend in June works best for you all?

Yes there are bathrooms, not just out-houses. There are showers too.

The weekend of 11-13 is bad; daughter graduates the prior Thursday, and we'll have a lot of family in town. The following weekend I've got a gig (finally one paying real money!), so that's out...

So far June looks do-able for me... I've got a couple things going that I can probably work around.

The last two weekends of June are out for me (that's 19-20 and 26-27). I'm not sure about the other two, but they're a possibility.

But seriously Steve, I want to come camping....I really do. And if any weekend works for me that works for you and/or the whole lot of everyone else, I am there!
