Just to keep the dream alive I thought I would throw a little fuel on the fire. I went to the first one and was overwhelmed by the event. My only regret was that I didn't have the nerve to participate in the open mic session. My TS guitar is my favorite guitar, not only berause of the way it sounds and looks but because I picked out each componen part (with Bob's help) What a weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mw

I've seen Mike's guitar and it is REALLY nice.

Just thought I'd throw a log on the fire also.

Hey David, Where have you been. I guess you have been spending time at the mortorcycle forum. It's good to see you back online. mw

I've been here there and every where. I've been lurking here, but haven't been posting much.

Yes, I've been on the FZ1 forum a bit also. Can't wait for warmer weather.

Another Taylorstock would be great. I'm sure it will happen some time. Whenever it is, definitely count me in again.

Definitely endorse Harry's. Great shop and great atmosphere.

Also, check out Fat Sound Guitars in Cary (Hwy 54 in Cary). Another really nice shop. More electric than acoustic, but they have some great acoustic instruments in their acoustic room. Definitely worth visiting.

I haven't found a good sound reinforcement store in Raleigh, but I haven't looked that hard either. I used to check out Mars when it was open. A Sam Ash has recently opened in the same place, and there's a Guitar Center across the street. Don't expect knowledgeable sales people or good selection at either place, but they will have sound gear.

Good luck, and enjoy the shopping.

Hey David!

Say, who's a guitar tech in the area worth using on Taylors?

I'm also getting a case of GAS for a G&L ASAT Semihollow, and expect to be visting FatSound RSN since they're the only dealer around here.

Rick,

I had Harry of HArry's guitar shop install the pick up in my Alberico. It required drilling out the end pin, and I didn't feel comfortable doing it (I installed the pickup in the Taylor myself). He let me watch the whole operation, and was even nice enough to explain all of his steps. He was very careful with the instrument. So, I would definitely recommend Harry.

I don't know of anyone closer to you (Chapel Hill or Durham), but if you're willing to drive to Raleigh I'm sure Harry would do the work.

What are you having done? I hope it's nothing serious.

Later,

David

Just the "normal" Taylor fret-wear problem. Probably just need some dressing.

Rick, Ben Runkle has worked on a couple of my guitars and ha s done a good job. He is just off Wade ave. in Raleigh. Also Hanson and Crawford on St. Mary's ST. did an excellent repair on my Gibson that had fallen out of the back of my suv. They both trained under Craig Hoffman who owned Hoffman Stringed Instruments before he passed away a few years ago. That was a great store. mw

Nice to see the support for Harry's Guitar Shop. It is well deserved. Terry, the newer guy with the blond hair and glasses is an excellent tech. Harry has used the word 'astounded' to describe his pleasure with Terry's work. Greg and Peewee are just as competent and professional in their own rights, as well.

Great shop and even better people.

hey guys, I'm settled in NC now....I ended up using GC believe it or not....If your looking for stuff let me suggest Brian Rowland over there in pro audio-nice guy that seems to know his stuff pretty well-keep in mind however that I knew what I wanted when I went in. I haven't yet taken just a "guitar triip" to raleigh however...I definantly want to check out harry's. thanks again for the heads up :)
