Anyone interested? We had a great turnout last time, maybe more will come? We'll do the same gig as last time. I'll host it at my church, we'll do $10 at the door to cover Double Barrel BBQ, and we'll ooggle over everyone's guitars, hear some open mic, and then jam for a while.
Here's a pic from last time!

Let me know if you're up for it. I'm thinking about late April

I'm definitely not anywhere near seattle, but judging by your pictures, I'd say that was one heck of a party. Man I wish I was there. Never had a North East TGF gathering. But I'll be one of many to say thanks for hosting it. You guys and gals looked like you had an awesome day! :)

I'll be there, Sam:) :)
April is good. I'm out of town the first 2 weeks of May. Any chance of resurrecting the Tonewoods tour idea someday?
How were the Men of Steel?
How are you and your son faring these days? I remember you both had some healing-up to do.
That's all the questions I have for now........

PeaVine..
Men of Steel was an AMAZING show. They have a live cd out that everyone wholoves acoustic guitar should own.
Levi and I are doing just fine.
As soon as I get some more responses, I'll start working on a date.
Thanks,
Sam
i'm in, lemme know when sam

Hey Ray!
Cool... I'm waiting to see if we can get any more momentum. I'm thinking if making it a great event. We could do it on a Saturday or Sunday.
Eric Warner, a TGFer and employee of Pacific Rim Tonewoods has offered to tour us through his facility. Pacific Rim Tonewoods supplies Taylor with all of their bracing and all spruce tops. It is a fascinating look at how top woods are chosen and treated before they get in the luthier's hands.
We could meet at the church, I could drive everyone out there in our bus, we could take the tour, then come back to eat some BBQ and jam for a while.
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

I'm up in Bellingham and would be game. The only problem, I'm still seeking that first Taylor.

That's okay - based on last time, there's plenty to go around!
I hope I can make it. I'll cross my fingers for a Saturday event.

Okay, to get Lee to come, we'll do it on a Saturday. One condition, though, Lee - you have to bring that faithful old Guild along with your Taylor...

Saturday, April 17th, TGF Jam in Mount Vernon, WA!!!
We'll keep the exact start time loose for now, but we'll say early afternoon to meet at Christ the King Community Church in Mount Vernon. I can fit 14 in our little bus, and hopefully, some others won't mind carpooling as we drive out to Pacific Rim Tonewoods.
Eric Warner will give us the tour of the place and show us how logs become guitar tops.
Then, pile back into the cars, head back to the church to eat Jim Lee's famous BBQ, play our Taylors, and talk guitars.
Because of a rate increase from Double Barrel BBQ, the price will need to be increased - I'll keep it under $20.
Thanks for letting me know if you're interested!

UPDATE - Security and T-Shirts(?)
We've had quite a few sign up, so keep 'em coming.
Some of you asked about our time at Pacific Rim Tonewoods, specifically what we will do with our guitars while we are gone.
I spoke with Officer Jon Skiffington, who is in the Crime Prevention Dept. of the Mount Vernon Police Department, and he recommended a local security firm to me. I have hired a security guard to watch our guitars inside the church while we are away touring the Tonewood plant.
I just thought I'd put your minds at ease.
I'm also looking at the possibility of having T-shirts made for the event so that you go home with something to remember the day by. I spoke with the rep from Double Barrel BBQ, and it's going to be $12.95/person for the meal. I spoke with rep from a local screenprinting shop, and could get the shirts for around $7/shirt. This brings the cost to $20 person - would this make anyone uncomfortable? I'll post a design of the shirt as soon at is it ready.
Let me know what you're thinking!
Thanks,
Sam

Hmmmm... $20.00 is cool. Maybe I can find some cheap airfare somewhere, and a little dive motel (hey, I just gotta' sleep, right?).
I'd probably need a ride to and from SeaTac, though...

Won't be able to make it Sam. I'm a reserve Marine and got the call. I'll be spending my summer in Afghanistan. I hear it's nice this time of year. Maybe I'll have my Taylor for the next years get together.

Yep, still on for April 17th, pay at the door. Price reduced to $15, I was unable to obtain T-Shirts - the original design was of a TGF nature, and the turn around is too long to get them changed.
Hope to see you there.

I live down in the Portland area, could I come? If so do you have an e-mail reminder thing keeping us updated (so I remember to keep it in my schedule). What is this tonewood factory all about? Where is it?
send me e-mail

Sam,
Seems I've lost your email address, and the forum email system isn't functioning, but....
Count me and my wife to be there, if you don't have us on the list already :)
Thanks, PeaVine

My e-mail...

Pacific Rim Tonewoods is the biggest supplier for Taylor topwoods. Eric Warner will show us how they turn logs into acceptable soundboards for Taylor, Martin, Larrivee, and many other luthiers.

I tried sending you e-mail but it wouldn't go through. I was wondering what time of the day this deal will start since I may have to drive a ways to get there.
