Okay, so, we are getting ready to have TGF TX III, this time in San Antonio. If you live in TX (or really anywhere) and you can get to San Antonio, come on down. I am thinking about the first or second Saturday in March, or the first or second Saturday in April as the tentative dates, depending on schedules and some sort of room availability.
For some history, TGF TX I was in the Houston area, and TGF TX II was in the Dallas area.
So far, I have Jeffrey, For Him, Honda (and me, phuufme) as yesses, TaylorGirl is a yes if she can get a ride from "the Hills of Texas" (I'm sure we can work that out) and LarryH in Texas is a maybe depending on the date.
Jeffrey, for the record, bring that K14C so I can play it some more.
I will try to get a place and a date as soon as I can. This response looks promising, since I only posted this yesterday.
So, if you are interested, send me an email to feinstei@swbell.net and/or post here. Remember, spouses/significant others are also welcome -- we just need to know the count.

I'm in, for sure. Pending the parents don't ditch me somewhere in the woods and leave me for dead. Ha Ha. I'm actually pretty close to San Antonio, only about 45 minutes. I'm in Wimberley. So it'd probably be me, and for sure my mom, but probably the dad too. Are we planing on holding this in a place that serves food(like PIZZA?)? If not, it might be fun to have a pot luck. Just a thought.

TaylorGirl. Right now, I am considering all ideas. TGF TX I was outside (i very cold weather), but we had great food, like a cooler full of crawdads, potatoes, etc. TGF TX II was in a place (what was it called), where you could order food and drinks. We had two rooms with doors between (so two jams could be going on at once). We had a mike and amp set up there, too, but we really didn't use it for performances. There were several couches and chairs to sit on. Also, a rep from a music store came (Larry Morgan Music???) with several Taylors to play. They also brought the amp and mike set ups.
I'll put you down for 3.

Well it looks like I won't be short on a ride(my parents might not be keen on it though lol). Hmm now to decide between Jeff and Hondo.. Hondo, how old's the son, is he single, is he cute? lol, nah just kidding! ...Or am I? No no, I really am kidding. I really appricate the offers. I'd vote for having the event indoors.. Cause BUURRR!! It's cold..! But somewhere that offers food would be nice. Or like I said, a nice pot luck.

How far exactly is this from Farmville, Virginia?

The place was called "Pugsleys" it is a nice sports bar, they charged us $20 an hour if I remember correctly.
I would recommend getting one of the Taylor dealers to be a sponsor. I'd come and could probably talk a couple more of our "TGF 3rd Friday of the month, no wives get together" to come along.

Good luck.
I beat that dead horse for about 3 or 4 months. And that's when the guy (the only Taylor dealer in San Antonio) was still a good friend of mine. :p

When I say sponsor I don't mean cash! (but if they want to give me some that is OK too:roll: )
Larry Morgan just brought out some guitars, PA's and such. If you recall he even gave away some Taylor swag.
Does anyone else think the Taylorware is....less than great?

Looks like we do have plenty of interest. So, here we go.

Sharon Sharon, thanks for the ideas. I would like a place indoors, too. In March/April its possible to be beautiful or horrible outside.

My thought exactly.. It could turn out like it is right now, one day warm, dry sunny. The next day cold, wet and rainy. I dunno about myself, but my taylor just doesn't like the rain. lol. Looking like this is gonna happen though, cool. I really look forward to meeting all you guys face to face.

No, I don't mean cash either. I mean like what Larry Morgan did.
It seems this particular dealer, when doing things like this, is more concerned with definite sales/money than earning potential new customers.
Kinda sucks really. I wish they weren't the only Taylor dealer in San Antonio. San Antonio is certainly large enough for 2 dealers.

Who is the Martin dealer? That might be interesting. *shrug*
I've played ust about every Taylor there is, but I've played very few Martins.
It would be really cool to have someone bring out a bunch of different brands I think. ;)
Hey Steve, what about a room at Dave and Busters? I have no idea what those cost though. But that would be a pretty cool place to have it.

Jeffrey, I have had the same thought, about Dave and Busters. Actually we have had our company holiday party there the past 3 years, so our HR department has some info on room costs. Let me find that out.
I don't know who is the Martin dealer, but I do know there is only one in town in San Antonio. And I don't know them. However, I do have a Martin D12-18 that I can bring that simply blasts out in volume.

Yep, sounds like something to look into. I know that hotels will usually offer discounts on the meeting rooms if we can commit to staying overnight. But, in any case, another place to think about.

San Antonio is just too far for me. I wish I could come again as I really enjoyed TGF Texas II at Pugsley's. If you all are ever interested, the office of my apartment complex in Fort Worth has a large room that would be ideal for a get-together. Also a pool, water volleyball, and sand volleyball for family members. Maybe TGF Texas IV later on... :)

I know, I know!! Thing is my wife works retail (often on Saturdays) and I have twin 7 year old daughters that I'm responsible for. It's hard to squeeze in an 8 hour roundtrip drive just to hang out with you hoodlums...
