View Full Version : So Cal Get Together?

With the fires long gone, it seems safe to try this again. (Watch out for mud slides.) We had one member suggest their home. Anyone want to get together? When shall we do it? Anyone got a spot or house for us? When is a good time? Saturday or Sunday? Do you want to wait until after Christmas? ? ? ? What ideas do you have?
There are several of you that I want to meet in person and many that I want to see again.

Killer58,
We're going to need to know why you go by killer58 before we invite you.
How long are you in town?
I might be booked through the end of November, perhaps the last weekend will open up. Other than that, I'm looking at after Christmas.
Rebeca -- When are you leaving? Are you up to hosting us in the next few weeks or should we find another place?
Anybody in San Diego up for hosting.
I might be able to host after Christmas. Amyone want to come out to Temecula/Murrieta?
Mountain bikers could come early and get a ride in!

Steve,
My callsign was given to me years ago when I checked into a new command. The Adjutant took one look at me and said "Holy s**t, we got ourselves a real Killer here...." He never would explain just what he meant.
The 58 portion refers to a 1958 car I am restoring.
If your worried, Cisco and Steve314 can vouch for me. Of course, once they read this thread, they'll undoubtedly make up some fanciful warning!

Sounds great! Count me in. I can also vouch for killer58....one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.
It seems like last year at Cisco's, the Saturday right after Christmas day seemed to work. Enough time to recover from Christmas? I'm up for driving to Temecula or Simi.

The Saturday after Christmas sounds like a good time to me. I will still be in the area until after winter, it looks like now. I accepted a job, and also don't want to drive too far in winter conditions. However, I do not know if I will still be in my home by then. There is a very good chance I will be in an apt. or renting a room by then. So, I'm sorry guys, I don't think we'll be able to count on my place. But I would love to come, and would be happy to bring something, wherever we have it!

Cool Ron, then let's do it! We can tentatively plan for here, and IF I am in the middle of moving (or have already moved), then we'll do it at your place. If that happens, I'm willing to help you in any way.
For the rest of you, Ron lives about 15 miles from me, so hopefully it will not make that much difference to you which place it ends up to be. He is in north L.A. County, and I am in south Ventura County.
I was thinking about the Saturday after Christmas, but that's the 27th, and some folks may be out of town for the holidays (or burnt out FROM the holidays!). So how about Saturday, January 3rd? How does this date look for you all?
I think we should skip the poll this time, and just declare a date - what do you all think?
Feedback requested! ;)

If it's held on January 3, I'll have to bow out, as I've got a gig that night. My thought was that, if it were held up north somewhere, I'd find a comfy little hotel and spend the night, so I'm not spending seven hours on the road in one day. Given the gig, by the time I got there, I'd have to turn around and come home.
December 27 works for me, I think. We did it right after Christmas last year, and had a pretty good turn out. December 13 and December 20 are also bad...

Well....I am open to any date. The Christmas stuff does take up some of the room, but what the heck? And to be honest with you all, I'm getting a little fed up with my **, and am ready to tell him to just wait until after the New Year, and even then, maybe not. (I hope that this does not conflict with Cisco's or cotten's 'angel' image of me ;) )
After all, this has been MY home for over 20 years. His for only 4. I think that I may have been too acquiescent over this whole thing, in hopes of keeping the 'peace'. But whose 'peace'? I am realizing that sometimes we have to fight for what is right.
ANYWAY (sorry to get into all this, guys).........whatever works best for all of you is okay with me (and/or Cisco). So please keep on posting your opinions and availabiity. We will do our best to work around it and include everyone. IF I am still here at that time, I will have 2 extra bedrooms to accomodate folks from down south. 2 beds in one, 1 in the other. (Singles). First reservation, first serve. :)

This is fine with me. Let's just make sure that Ron seconds this, since he is our back-up plan. Also SteveS, I haven't heard back from him yet either. He was the original organizer on this. So let's see what the two of them say.

Tha sounds great! Let's have it at my house on 12/27.
Just kidding. I don't know what I'm doing for Christmas. I was going away for Thanksgiving but work got crazy and I can't leave for the next few weeks. So now it looks like we might be out of town during Christmas and New Years. So plan away and I'll come if I can.

Any votes for Saturday, Jan. 10? I just found out family may be coming from out of town over Christmas week. Any chance this date would work for you all?

The 10th day of the first month of 2004 is looking like the preferred date....I'm just waiting for Steve, Rebecca, Ron, or Ryan to make it official...I hope we have found a date that everyone likes and is able to lock into their schedules to be there...:)
