Fellow Forumites:

I'm proud to announce an official 'Full Speed Ahead' on the third TGF Acoustic Guitar Workshop to be held here in Monroe NC on Saturday, October 25th, 2003.

Based on the response from our two previous events, the tentative time frame that day will be 10:00 AM --> 'Into The Evening' ...... or ......until there's no one left.

Full details will be forthcoming in the form of a web page, as before, with updates referenced here also.

Meanwhile.....let's get the registration process started...........

PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH THE FOLLOWING REGISTRATION INFO:

*- Your first and last name.
*- Your TGF User Name if different from above.
*- Total number of attendees in your group.
*- Names of other attendees if applicable.
*- Any special needs or requests to accommodate you.
*- Contact phone number is optional.
*- City of origin, for distance reference.

And...here's a direct email link for your convenience: EMAIL TO RICK FOR TGF WORKSHOP (rick.crider@trellis.net)

IMPORTANT: Please put < TGF Workshop > in the SUBJECT line of the email so that I can instantly snag it and keep it out of the spam bucket. Thanks.

Now .... for quick reference only .... I'm trying out a 'Check In' here using the board's 'Poll' feature. Feel free to check the choice that applies, however, I *still* need that email to have you registered by name.

OK .... that should be enough to get it rolling .... thanks for your interest and support folks. I'll be back here regularly with follow-ups as needed. Please use this thread now for questions/comments rather than the first one started earlier.....

Hello. Hello? Hhheeeellllllloooooo??? Hello!!!

......hmmmmmmm......I'd a sworn there was someone there. Wonder if it's my breath. Maybe my fly's unzipped or I left the tag on my shirt....or...NO!!!....surely no one found out that I requested online info on mail-order toupe's!!! .......oh well.......I like talking to myself anyway and sending myself email and leaving myself notes everywhere....so I might as well respond to my own posts here.....they won't know the difference....heheheheeeee. Heheheeee. Hahahaha. Hehehee. Or maybe that 'Quick Reference' poll thing up top frightened them away....it certainly is anything but quick. Heheeee.

Sorry Rick, I guess I should've posted a "you've got mail" yesterday when I emailed you. Hope you didn't feel like we left ya hangin' :)

I am very much looking forward to this, being my first Forum get-together. I'm going for the fellowship, music, and especially the gee-taaarrrsss:D!!!! Hopefully I'll have my 714 in by then, but if not everyone will have to "ooo and ahhh" my 412 so it doesn't get upset and feel left out ;)

I'm also looking forward to the plethera of playing styles and skill levels that will undoubtedly be represented. For me, I play mostly Dave Matthews, but I learned guitar from my dad who taught my through bluegrass/gospel songs and I still love to play that stuff...but now I would like to learn some of those fancy bluegrass runs, maybe some yall will help me out in that department...I'm getting tired of Wildwood Flower :)

I threatened to go last time, but couldn't make it. I'm hoping to make it this time - I've already started 'prepping' the wife :) Sadly, too soon to confirm. Time (and wife!) will tell.

I'd really like to make this event and meet the Carolina contingent (particularly JW!). However I'm returning (to No. VA) from Orlando on the 23rd so I'm not sure if I'm going to be travelled out and I'm not a big fan of long distance driving (either as passenger or driver). On the flip side my wife is out of town so that makes it a little easier.

For now I'm not saying yes and I'm not saying no. :)

Just found out that my wife will be out of town that weekend which greatly increases my chances of going. Can't confirm yet, but things are looking up!

I'm impressed by the initial polling....so far 26 people. Does anyone remember how many were there last year?

I'm very pumped and excited about this...I can't wait.

There are folks who don't read the forum who'll be there, and last year if I recall we had at least 40. It's a pretty big local event for Taylor fans, and I for one am looking forward to it! Should be a really good time.

Hi Bobby:
I haven't been replying to individual emails unless there was a specific question within it that needed a direct reply..... I did get yours though, just to let you know for sure....thanks....looking forward to having you down...

Most likely, I'll do it the same way as last year .... I'll post the registrants to a web page that will be linked from the Workshop web page:

Here are some past examples:

Last year's WORKSHOP (http://www.rickcrider.com/tgfws2.htm) introduction / promotional page.

Last year'sREGISTRANTS (http://www.rickcrider.com/tgfws2registrants.htm) page, which is also linked from the main page, above.

So...basically the same routine this year... and all in the works as I type...

We're quite a bit ahead of time thus far this year.....and it's looking SUPER from the interest and registration standpoint. My handy-dandy little 'quick reference' poll up top is fairly accurate, even it does take bit of ciphering.....

From direct emails to me .... which is what I'm 'officially' going by .... we're very close to the poll. I've received 14 individual registration emails confirming 23 attendees at this time. That's a lot of registrants this early on!!!!

Note for Jim: (CRITTER) Just realized you had a tech question in your email unrelated to the event ..... I'll go back and re-read it tonight or tomorrow night .... glad to help if I can. (I'll mention that, due to the spelling of my last name, 'CRITTER' was an often used nick-name for me back in high school and teenage years.....I got quite used to it...even had front license plate for my car back then that read the same...)

Note for everyone: Be assured that any news, updates, questions, etc, will be posted RIGHT HERE in this thread as well as on the soon-to-be web page....

We're gonna have a good one ..... guaranteed.

Later...
Rick

Still checking. But it doesn't look too bad. I'll just need Friday off for the drive.

I think I'm out. Just too much travelling going on around that time.

I'll have to save meeting JW for another time. :)

I may be able to make it, but won't be able to confirm anything until after the first week of October. My wife has a bunch of weekends where she is going to be away, so I should be able to pull off a free weekend for myself too....

If there was to be North Carolina Barbeque at the event, it sure would serve as added incentive....

I'm in. I've sent my mail.

Motel suggestions welcome. Got directions? Got milk?

Looking forward to actually meeting some TGF people (I refuse to use the word "folks"... it's been ruined for me.)

Awwwright Troops.....
....moving right along, 'tisn't it ...... ?

OK ..... for peace of mind ..... there's full acknowledgement and accounting for everyone who's touched bases in the postings leading up to this one.

We're right at 30 registrants although I already know there are several that will be attending that aren't included in the official tally just yet. This is *great* guys (please always read my 'guys' as dual-gender) ..... 30+ attendees in just 15 days since the 'official' announcement here in this thread on August 27 ..... and we still have *six* more full weeks to go.

Now....just some misc. notes to cover a few items....most of which will also be on the events promo page. Promo page isn't ready to publish just yet, only because it's still *real* early and there are several routine wrinkles to iron out and fasten down.

Several have inquired about Motels close by. Just west of Skyway Drive, where Holloway's Music is located, there is a small cluster of new and modern motels....practically within sight of one-another. I will list them on the promo page but, for the anxious among you, I'll list them here at this time:

Comfort Inn
2351 W. Roosevelt Blvd.
704-283-9600

Best Western
2316 Hanover Dr.
704-283-4746

Hampton Inn
2368 Rowland Dr.
704-220-2200

Having never stayed at any of the three, I can't recommend any particular one but all three are fairly modern, with Comfort Inn being the oldest of the three and the Hampton being the newest.

Directions:
A printable, detailed direction sheet will be linked from the promo page, just as last year. In fact, it's the same page .... I just saved it to use again. You can see it now if you'd like:
http://www.rickcrider.com/tgfdirections.htm

Alrighty .... I shall be back with more as it happens ......

Your humble workshop master,
Rick
