Troops.....

..... first of all....this is a 'Testing The Water' type of poll here .....

*This is not a commitment from myself or anyone else at this point. I have not even spoken with Marion Holloway about this and his store's participation would be crucial.

*This is not a registration or request for same. Just simply need to sample the interest and ability to attend on a particular date.

If this germinates and bears fruit I will post an official announcement over in the 'TaylorStock/TGF Events' section with proper details and instructions for sign up.

OK....having said that: Staring blankly at my desk calendar it seems that, if I'm to put this together, the ONLY date that would work without conflict is: Saturday, OCTOBER 25th

It would be an all day event, much like our first two workshops.

So....check your calendars and give a tentative 'ye or ne' please....

Thanks....
Rick

Moderators: I realize there's a section for event announcements......I'm shooting for initial reaction here with this thread. If this takes off with good initial response, I'll post the 'official' one in the proper spot.....meanwhile.....if you need to move this to keep everyone happy, I completely understand. RC

Rick;

I'm there, and more than willing to help organize. By the way, I already ran it by Marion a few weeks ago, and as I recall he was leaning towards late October as well, which is after their summer season and yet still not quite into the heavy Christmas shopping. They should have some nice guitars by then though, judging by what's coming up for this fall!

Dude! I am sooooooo there!

What would a NC get-together be without me driving 8 hours to get to it? :roll: I've been waiting for this post to show up since the last NC gathering. They're always soooo much fun. You can be sure to count me in. I've made sure to make that date free on my calendar. :D

Yep, I'd love to...but can we get someone a little less talented than Mr. Queen to do the workshop? I was so depressed last time I went home and set fire to two of my guitars:) (just kidding folks...he's THAT good)

Sounds interesting. How far is it from Asheville?

Bruce

1996 955
1986 Wayne Henderson 12 fret D-42 koa/sitka
2000 John Arnold 12 fret D42 brazillian/red spruce*

The red spruce was blocking I-40 when the hurricane that came through Charleston passed by. John saw it on TV, Found out who removed it and bought it.

I have 2 other guitars in the works. Don't know if either would be ready:

Avalon Legacy(Lowden) jumbo curly-birdseye-quilted koa/cedar
Wayne Henderson 12 fret 000 curly-birdseye-quilted koa/red spruce.

Here's a picture of a guitar built from the same tree:

From Asheville, 'bout 2.5 hours straight through. Easy drive though, mostly interstate.

I can't wait to see how this develops.
Rick, glad you're able to find some time to enjoy the simple pleasures. Bring the Hummer.
Hope to see you all then.

I'll sure try to be there. Last time was great! We should definitely do the dinner out afterwards again. That was a lot of fun too.

Rick, do you still have all the e-mail addresses of us who came last time? I know a lot of don't read the forum as much anymore, but would probably like to come.

how long is it going to take me to get there from central FL?, and will there be a local hotel to crash in Friday night? (the Bond clan from TS will be there---that means Vicki, Becki, and Tom).

Rick;

A friend and very occasional forum-poster mentioned last night that he'd spoken to Marion and that two dates--11/1 and 11/8--looked to be the best options. 11/8 is the NC thumb-and-fingerstyle association hoedown so that's out, which leaves the 1st. We might want to get up with Marion on this to make sure of the date.

Wade;

It'd be fantastic if you could come!

Everyone else:

Hope everyone from last year comes--it'll be great to see everyone again.

David Moore, you think you'll make it?

Tom,

we live just west of charlotte, and it takes us around 7.5-8 hrs to get to orlando. I think you are around 2 hours north of there right? So your probably looking at 6 hrs?

Whoa....just dropped in for a quick check....quite a response here just since last night.....can't stay but a moment.....back later...

Lauren:
.....I just don't have much nudging room on the dates on this end....I just simply can't do the 1st or the 8th myself. Susan and I are booked for the Acoustic Guitar Magazine Cruise / Workshop November 1st --->8th. We fly out for Miami on the 31st and back in on the 9th. It's a done deal....we're booked, paid-in-full, child care, house & pet sitters, the whole nine yards.....

I do indeed need to get up with Marion in the next several days. It just wouldn't be very feasible without his staff support, space, Taylor affiliation, etc, not to mention Marion's brimming personality.... :eek:

With all I've got shaking, I just had to nail a date that I *knew* I could commit to beyond doubt and poll the majority for their views....thus the October 25th date.

If you or anyone wants to do November 1st, there's no hissy on this end but I'll sadly have to miss it....

Gotta go.....will check in later or tomorrow afternoon....

Rick

I just checked in with my social secretary and my wife informed me that we will not be available oct. 25 or the following weekend. I'm sorry I won't be able to attend, I really enjoyed last year's event. If , by chance, it gets changed to another date I will definately be there!! mw

Well, I just ordered a 714-ce 2003 fall ltd. from Marion, so I'd love to make the drive out and show it to all you guys and hang out with ya. I think I'm looking at a 5 hour drive. As for dates, the 25th is fine with me....hopefully my gee-tar will be in by then. If not, I'll just bring my trusty 412 with me (new and improved with I-beam :) ). Until Rick said he couldn't make it Nov. 1st I was gonna pull for that cause its my Birthday :D
