I'm here in Massachusetts and if timing is right I'd come to any get together that you have....I just didn't stick my head up because I didn't want to start saying 'it has to be here or there on this day etc.' but I am interested!

I was one of those three. I already tried to meet with you when I was last in NYC. You couldn't do it. :(

I have no problem coming up again...with some notice. It will just have to wait until after the Tony's. My cousin will be too stressed out for me to crash at his place until they're over. After that...give me a date.

And technically, DC is not the NE...so there are only TWO other people who voted.

Hey Joe (can I call you Joe?)

I live in central Jersey (transplanted from PA) and its no problem for me to hop on a train the the Big Apple. Would be nice to meet some of ya. I just don't know if I want to wander the streets of NYC with my guitar though. :)

You can call me Joe.:)

That's why it's easiest to meet at a guitar store!

I work in Midtown and commute from the Northern suburbs. My Saturdays are usually booked (kids, work around the house, etc., but with enough notice, I can come down for a while, especially in the afternoon.

Hiya all.

I'm from Mass. I have a couple of wee ones, so travelling is difficult, but I'd love to visit the big apple if the timing works out with my family... I just can't commit to anything.

I live in NewJersey, just west of Newark. I would love to find someone to play with. I work afternoon to evenings, but I have weekends free.

OK, looks like most votes are NYC or tri-state and trending towards late July or August.

Anybody wanna throw out a date and/or place??

Here's one:

NOON Saturday August 2nd.

Meet at a Starbucks in the Times Square area (?)
for an informal get together and chat.

Wander over to Manny's Rudy's, Sam Ash after coffee.

Anybody in???:)

I'm new around here, so I don't know how much/if my opinion counts...

I'm in central NJ, and am always interested in getting together with other guitarists/musicians. Is this like a jam session type of thing, or just a get-together-and-hang-out thing?

I figured on a "get to know you" thing first and then we might take it the next step.

But heck, I m open to suggestions!:)

I'll be in NYC again on Aug. 9th and then possibly again on Aug. 23rd. I'm heading from NYC to Israel, so I'll be staying at least one day before and a couple days after I get back. If you plan it one of those two Sat. then I can come too!

You know a get-together isn't really a get-together without moi!!!! :p

Not that anybody knows me yet, but I'd be into an August 9th meeting...jam session...bar crawl :) ...whatever.

Ha! I just got here and I'm already screwing things up. Turns out I have a wedding to go to on the 9th, so if it changes to that, I'm out. The 2nd still sounds good.

Don't listen to the guy with 9 posts...I think 6000+ trumps me every time. :D

It really doesn't. I'm sure you can play rings around me -- and that's what counts!

Ha ha ha...don't bet on it. I've been playing for about 22 years and I still have issues with scales and such. I've never taken a lesson, so I do everything wrong (or so I'm told). The best I can say is that I've been playing in bands for about 15 years, so I've learned to fake it pretty well.

It's all about having fun...and THAT I can do. :)

Hmmm. I live on Long Island and work in Manhattan. You guys are going to meet in Manhattan on a weekend and go to visit the music stores that I go to on my lunch hour.

Obviously you're not commuters.

Actually, I could make it to southern Jersey if it was done sometime in September. Everything else between now and then is taken...

Ditto. I also commute, except I do so from the Northern 'burbs. I haven't ventured to 48th Street in awhile, though.

So...when and where?

And WHAT, for that matter? Meet for coffee/cruise the music shops? Meet at somebody's house and jam? Book a gig at the Roxy and have an open mic night? :)

Are we still looking at August 2? I could do that. I say coffee, crumpets, and 48th street. See where it goes from there.

I've been looking at the SoCal gathering thread and that really looked like a good time...just a bunch of guitarists hanging out, casual food and drinks, you know the drill.

I would gladly host something at my place in central NJ, assuming anybody was willing to make the drive (and assuming my wife and kids could be out of the house for the day). I know I'm new around here, but I swear I'm not an axe murderer, at least as far as you know. :)
