Hey everyone- We had such a great time at Ron's in December, I thought it would be a good time to get some preliminary feedback for another So. California gathering. At Ron's we talked about having the next one in Dana Point (at my home) to make it convenient for both San Diego and LA TGF's.

So, this is my unofficial invitation to host the gathering or at least see if there's enough interest. I was initially thinking the last weekend in May (weekend after Memorial day) or the second weekend in June? I know it's a couple months away but I thought with summer vacations, school schedules, etc. we could at least start thinking about getting something on the calendar.

I look forward to your input.

Vito

Hi Vito (VFran)
As I am new to the TGF, I am assuming this is get together for Pickin' - Grinnin' - Eatin' - Funin' - Talkin'. Please advise, as I would love to gather with TGF'ers. Those dates are good, my Dad is in a retirement home in Dana Point, Aegis.. It is right at the end of Camino De Estrella. How many people were at the last event? Is this a one day only event?

You're right on and welcome to the TGF. At Ron's home (Cisco) in December, I believe there were about 15-20 of us. I haven't thought through logistics but figure we'll start around noon on a Saturday and go as late as we want.

Assuming this works for everyone (or most everyone), let's set it for Saturday, June 14. As we get closer to the date, we'll get the details ironed out and if you have any suggestions that would be great. We can use our empty dining room as the "open mic" area (we conveniently gave our dining room furniture to my parents and my wife hasn't figured out why I'm delaying the purchase of new furniture! :D ) I don't think she would be happy with "but honey we need the room for the TGFers"

I'm looking forward to it!

I have attend a few folk circle groups in the LA/Orange County area. And most of them have pot lucks. Is this something that the TGF'ers do?
One cannot live on music alone.........
Oh, I could bring fish tacos. Let me go back and check the poll on fish tacos, last I checked there were 19 TGF'ers that loved fish tacos. Oh wait, I don't know how to make fish tacos. How hard could it be?

I was thinking buffalo wings or some b'que ribs  Then we could all exchange guitars!

We'll work out the details but I was just going to bring something in.

I'd love to make it, but I dont know when I'll be around - I'm leaving school May 26th (monday) to drive home, so I may very well be back for that last weekend in May...On the other hand, ill be in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on the 2nd weekend in June, so that one wont work for me, but if that one works better for everyone else, then dont mind me :)

Sounds fun though!

No special membership required but you do get special treatment if you have less than 200 posts.

Oh no, I only have a few left .

Ryan- Hawaii again??? You're just going to have to cancel. :) At the beginning of May, we can take a poll with a couple of different dates but maybe one option is to push it out one week to 6/21 if that works better. Have your people call my people with your available dates and we'll get something inked.

Hey guys...I just got an e-mail from Dave (killer58) out in the gulf. He's the Navy pilot. Anyway he said he would be home on leave at or around the same weekend we're having our guitar party. I believe the 21st would work for him. I'd like to ask all of you guys that we try to have it on the weekend he comes home. he's a great guy and I know he wants to attend. Any feedback ??

That's great Ron but are you sure he would want to spend his precious time home with us??:D It would be great to have Dave over and June 21 works for me. Hopefully the 21st will work for everyone that has already responded to the previous tentative date of 6/14. A few people have indicated to me separately that the 21st works better for them but any additional feedback is appreciated.

If everyone is in agreement, let's ink 6/21.

June 21 (or anytime that weekend) would be a no-go for me. I'm going to be having some folks visiting from out of town, and it just wouldn't be feasible...

I can't do June 21. That's the weekend of the Summer Solstice Folk Music Festival in Calabassas, which I'm committed to.

Cheap, shameless plug: I recommend this fest to anyone interested in folk music. There are performances, workshops, and jams covering a broad range of music all day Saturday and Sunday.

Vito...Dave actually asked me if it could be moved because it would please him so to be with us. There was such great chemistry at my place...so your's will be equally great. I must say that without Steve and Ryan it just wouldn't be the same. Steve is the life of the party and Ryan gives me chills:roll: hehehehe Anyway I'm open to any date. Whatever works is cool.

Yeah, ditto. Do me a favor and keep me posted via e-mail. I'm not getting around these parts all too often these days...

Ouch, I'm not comming until I get a full apology! :( Of course if I don't get an acceptable apology, I'll come just because I'll know you don't want me there. :) Or I'll come for the massive amounts of free food. Or better yet, if I don't get an apology I'll be singing loud and a lot.

We can crank up the PA to 11 to help out with that! :) And Ron, that's worth a timeout for you young man. LOL

Tom- Look forward to seeing your W65 and I'm glad you can make it along with all of you that have responded.

Gents (and ladies of course)- A poll should be coming out shortly so we can nail down a date in June. Sorry to be indecisive on the date but I want to accomodate as many of you as possible. Choices will be 6/14, 6/21 or 6/28 but Ryan will get it into a poll (since I'm technically challenged) to make it easy to respond.

OK, back to reviewing tax returns.

Well, even though no one said anything about missing me :) I'll keep my eyes open for the poll.
