Steve -- Hard to find data on. Here's all I could find:

Similar to DY 61, except has spruce top, tortoiseshell pickguard, wooden inlaid rosette, burled mahogany back/sides, upper belly bridge with white abalone dot pins, mfg. 1994 only.

Bruce,
Thanks for the reponse.Do you know if the back and sides were solid wood?
I'm also having a hard time finding any info on this model. My guess Alvarez brought it to market and it didn't sell that well so they discontinued the model after one year.

I have a DY61 - like yours, but with a cedar top. 1991 or 92. A glorious guitar!!

Back and sides are laminate, but who cares?

Steve -- I don't know for certain, but I believe the DY 61 was all solid. So, I assume the 69 also had solid b/s.

Yairi, as does Alvarez, seems to change models regularly. I wish they kept a db of past/discontinued models. All you can go on is information shared by other owner. The other option is to go to email Tom Kruszka, ([email protected]) who has been with them for years will answer your email. He is the best source I've found out there and he really does try to help. I realize the email domain is not "yairi"; that's b/c St. Louis Music was the US owner of Alvarez and distributor for both Alvarez and Yairi. Not sure if he'll have any data on this model since it does go back 15+ years, but it's worth a try! Good luck!

Default Congratulations

I have lusted after Yairi's myself. There is a message board dedicated to Yairi's.
This board has been started by a very knowledgeable woman calling herself Yairiluvr.

Interesting that the dy 61 is laminate. just shows, you can't always go with what you read online

also, i forgot, but there's also an alvarez yairi page on facebook. if you have an account, you can go there and ask fellow members:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Alvare...?v=info&ref=ts

Thanks again for all the reponses.I figured it was laminate side and backs like most Alvarez Yaris of that vintage. Some offered to do a partial trade for my Guild G312.I decided I don't really need another 6er and I'm going to hold onto my solid rosewood and spruce Guild.
