Keith, Absolutely gorgeous set of brazilian, and great specs and appointments. A friend of mine has just finalized her build specs with Jim, and she will be in the same group as you. I am looking forward to seeing the pictures of your build as it progresses. Congratulations!

I need to stop looking at these "Olson" or "Ryan" builds...:D

I am happy for you!

To whoever it was who called or emailed Jim Olson to complain about your serial number, all you did was upset him.

He is an incredible talent overburdened with a high class problem of everyone wanting a slice of his time. If you have an Olson in production, be happy about it and be happy for anyone who is getting one as well instead of obsessing over such details and causing anyone to get upset for any reason.

Congratulations on the Olson guitar. However, I am very sorry to hear about the upset over the serial number.

I don't care how good someone is at their job, you can NEVER please everyone. It's always somethin'...

Regards, Glenn

I get depressed everytime I see one of these threads, knowing I will never have the means to fund one myself. I must say though, I am looking forward to the future pictures lol.

That Brazilian looks look it will make a beautiful looking, and hopefully sounding, guitar.

Coke Zero - I agree that seeing all these builds really makes me interested in getting something like that done.

I love updates...

I joined up your back today. It is really a killer piece! And the sides
are more than generous enough for a cut-away.
Best,
Jim

CPA,

Here's an attempt to give you a visual of what the guitar could look like using the picture of the wood for the back you posted. I hope this helps you to see what a stunner this guitar is going to be! Congrats on the build and a great guitar!

Bruce

The sister to my back is the Brazilian Rosewood "Stealth" guitar on his recently sold section on his web site...but mine has the paua backstrip and the brazilian heel so it will look like the one you showed.

My wife tells me that I have not been this excited since the viper:

Here is the "Stealth":

...you realize the one I posted is just a rendition using the wood you posted? I just wanted to give you some idea of how it might look. It's a great set of wood and it is going to be a stunning guitar.

By the way, I can understand the excitement from the Viper, too! Nice car!

Nice appointments, Keith. A time will come when all the choice BRW sets are a thing of the past. Yours will be a gem. You have commisioned one of the best luthiers to craft your guitar.

A very nice addition to your "harem". Looking forward to your future postings.

Why would anyone fuss over a serial# I wonder? It's just a series of numbers to identfy something.

Bruce...I had no idea you actually did that. That is incredible!

It is amazing looking. I am amazed you took the time to do that and really appreciate it.

I just cannot believe I have to wait 9-12 months....

It may seem like a while but there was a time when the waits were YEARS. 9-12 is really not that bad now :)

You're welcome Keith. I hope it gives you some idea of how it may look, although I am sure it will be much, much better when you see the real thing. Congrats again and I am sure it will be well worth the wait!

I am holding my breath awaiting an email from Jim, a picture, some sort of insignifcant update of an immaterial event would be fine...

And still nothing....

He may be taking a break after his last group. Usually when he gets into a group of guitars it really consumes him and works very hard on them. I'm sure he'll update you when things get moving...he's really good about that.

LOL, he sent me an email yesterday and told me that he was finalizing the group of guitars

Hi CPA. You were specific in the serial number 1301 in your post. Why is that so important to the other person?

cpabolting
09-22-2009, 11:08 AM
He does his guitars in batches...and so that a batch of guitars will be numbered say 1301-1315...well perhaps someone who thought they may have ordered before were upset that I was 1301 and they must have sent Jim an email complaining...he was upset about the whole hassle...he is on his way to end taking custom orders, all this kind of stuff does is push him closer to doing that I suspect...Then he will just build what he wants and put them up for sale.

Who called complaining about not getting a serial number?

That's TOTALLY lame. For a one person operation like Jim's that's the last thing he needs.

That was EXACTLY what Jim said.

Anyway, such is life. My Olson is rolling and that is what matters today.

Am I the only one that can appreciate the anatomical correctness of this guitar?
