My holiday drama was tragic...my 42 year old brother could not take life any more with depression and alcohol, and ended his life on Christmas Eve. We are doing okay considering.
Anyway, that is what has been my exciting holiday break. But I am hoping that music and guitar building can occupy my mind!
I wonder....I could use this as a perfect excuse to bolt for 24 days and go build a guitar....now that would be good!

Thanks, we are doing okay. My parents, not so good. We will make it through though.
Appreciate the kind words.

Ever since following OC1's thread on how he went to a class and built such an amazing instrument without having any prior experience has me wanting to do this too. That would be a blast.

Keith,
sorry to hear about your brother and apologies for my earlier post.
No apologies are necessary...it was actually quite funny!
Guys, life goes on. It is like the movie Animal House...THANK YOU SIR MAY I HAVE ANOTHER...and you get up the next day and do it again!
Thanks again to all of you for the kind words....so onto guitars...
Jim told me my inlays are so special that they are taking time while everyone elses is zipping along, mine is "stalled." I asked for them to be special and am glad to wait...you will see how worth the wait they are!

A question (truly asked in sincerity): do you find time to play all of those guitars? I mean you have some seriously "world class" instruments in your collection. I don't think my "talent level" would do that "gene pool" justice!

Sorry to hear about your brother. Hate to change the tone of the thread but is this Olson fella a one man band? How long between ordering your guitar before delivery?
I noticed that the clamping mechanism for the front and back are aluminum, so is there any radius to the front and back or are they completely flat? If they are flat is there an advantage or disadvantage to this? I didn't see the inside of the vacuum press to see if there was a radius or not. He sure has some nice kit this maker!!! something to aspire to let me tell you.
I wish also we could of seen him cut out for the purfling. It is such a crisp cut makes me wonder just how he did it. I was wondering as well with the neck. Did he make this when it was ordered or has it been in his stock for some time? I was just wondering about the stability. Some makers make their necks years in advance and let them season for a couple of years before they do the final truing up for installation.
It is a real beauty of a guitar. You will be pleased that's for sure.

Find that funny. Would have asked the same question about nine months ago. :)

Barely. Quite a few I play often but on some of the rarer limited editions, becasue I think they will wind up being so valuable, I only play them sometimes and never really take them anywhere. You understand, it would be a drag if the LSH Prototype got injured somewhere.

Jim has been delayed due to the inlays he is doing since they are nothing he has done before...SOON I am hoping.
He said he could send me pictures of other peoples guitars!

Hi capB:
Since we've all been "watching and waiting" along with you, that makes us "aunts & uncles" - right? So, I'm ready when my turn to babysit comes around.... Well, it's the least I can do! :)
Just beautiful... Yeah, really just beautiful.
Peace,
Bill

If I had to guess and be overly pessimistic, April. I am sure it will be not too long now, maybe a month or two.
Once he is done with this group, he can start to tee up the matching dreadnaught.....which as I brought up to my wife last night...her response was "are you serious" which my response was "I will sell some other guitars to make it up" and then the conversation "whew" was over!
So Rock On!

She may be thinking "I could be buying some nice shoes with the money he waste on those things" !:D
