I am the opposite. I like the buildup of anticipation and excitement. I don't want to see anything about the guitar if I can help it - when it is done it is done. I figure that when the guitar is done, I will have tons of time to spend with it through recording sessions and gigs so I won't hamper the artisan at work and I prefer to let him do his "thang."

Am I the only one that can appreciate the anatomical correctness of this guitar?

The Olivewood guitar just got sold. So I will replace it with the Brazilian Zion to complete the trip. It may be a few more weeks before it makes it to Florida.

Some cool pics in this thread. Looks like it will be a fine guitar.
James Olson really goes for it when it comes to building a lot of guitars at the same time it looks like

Normally I don't think that to be a good thing, but I have never played an Olson, I know James taylor likes 'em.

Most luthiers make guitars in batches...it's just more efficient.

Yet he manages to take one and treat it like it is his only one.

MP you really should get to try one, cedar/eir SJ would suit you just fine.

Wow. Looks cool. He has a Henry Ford thing going on. How many guitars do they produce yearly?

NOT 100 guitars, more like 36 guitars. The master himself has corrected me. LOL

Yes, you do. Olsons, though -- they are just incredible. I'd love to own one some day... HECK! just play one one day!

about 100 guitars.
Unless I am doing my math wrong, Jim Olson's shop has the highest gross-income to business-size ratio I have ever heard of.
Based on the pictures, I can certainly see why. This guitar is going to be heirloom quality.

Makes sense. Based on your pics, it looks like he does 18 at a time.
That's still a very impressive output for one man. I cannot think of another individual with that sort of GDP, short of artists like Damien Hirst.
