Sounds like with seven kids and six Olsons you need to place one more order with Jim...

:wild::eek:You must be the most richest man in the whole wide world:eek::wild:
BUT, I will always be satisfied with my Charis. Would not mind an (as in ONE) Olson, however :D Now, if I had, say $200k to work with, I would be commissioning guitars left and right, lol. It's really hard to explain to outsiders the excitement of having an instrument built for you, isn't it?

Your Charis is a beauty, haven't ever seen one in real life.
Rich means you don't have to worry about taking a week off. I never take a week off nor could I. Every day is eat what you kill day. The longest trip I ever take is Thursday to Monday. Actually my banker harassed me today and told me if he ever take a loan to committee with me showing $5000 in cash on a personal financial statement, he is going to hurt me. He could not appreciate the killer guitars I have...SHEESH!
My Olson is the first guitar I ever commissioned! Yes I am excited!

Thanks. I also had a Engelmann/Ziricote SJ (still the first picture on Bill's gallery (see here (http://charisacoustic.com/Photos/Charis%20Photos/Charis%20Photos.html)), but I had to sell that to get the GC I currently own. Just decided I liked the warmth of the Cedar/EIR better.

True that. But, real riches can't be bought or sold...
Just never thought I'd see someone with SIX Olsons under their sig, oh and a couple lowly Ryans to balance it out :D:D:D

Remember that part about paying for guitars....I am still at the office...where I have been since 4 am....no time to record a clip but I will tell you the sustain and resonance is through the roof.

Wow, you really work a lot. Maybe it's time to do some "pruning" so you have more time to play those beauties.

So true. And remember the 7 kids?
I have 20 kids, but that's only for an hour and a half on Sunday (2nd grade children's church). ;) Can't imagine that 24/7. Ah, but they're still great!

Hi Keith:
A post at 1:30am...goodness my good man, you are an early riser indeed!!!
I have to say though, that is a wonderful "quiet" time to unwind and play, and with any luck, all the kiddies are asleep all snug in their beds.
Pretty intriging news...selling some Olson's...now that will truly be some good fortune for some lucky persons as I reckon that your Olson's are all truly fine works of art carefully chosen by yourself...man O man...let the "GASSING" begin!!!...Ouch!!!...I just felt the first GAS pain in my gut...darn you Keith!
Very Best Regards

My new Olson is just amazing and for a brand new guitar....pretty unreal.
The warmness of the older ones and the completeness in sound of each string in really unbelievable and unlike any other guitar I have owned.

Hi Keith:
Yep...Olson's just have a very remarkable melodic and "musical" timber to their tone, very "sweet" notes. I think "JT's" playing improved enormously after he started using them, they were a perfect fit for his style.
Just curious Keith...Jim really seems to have Western Red Cedar dialed in as a top wood, but I don't see many...or ever?...Olson's with Redwood tops, which would seem an awesome fit to his signature tone he achieves. Any idea why we don't see more Redwood Olsons? Does he not like the wood?
Very Best Regards

That is an interesting question. I would suspect that Cedar and Redwood would be similar since they are both softer. Jim told me that he spends a great deal of time talking to people about tone woods and at the end of the day, it is rosewood and cedar that they choose.

I can answer that. In a recent e-mail exchange with Jim Olson he told me that he has never built with Redwood.

How time flies....... (in the old folks home). I just checked out my mail archive and to my surprise that e-mail exchange with J.O. was ten months ago!

Hi Vic and Keith:
I went to his terrific website, and on his "previously sold" section, there were a couple of guitars that he did build with Redwood tops, but only a couple. I am just surprised, because I would think that Redwood would just be a fantastic tonal and dynamic fit for the sound he creates with his guitars.
I will be happy to order one just as soon as my ship comes in...darn...where are my lucky lottery numbers for this week...!
Very Best Regards
