Can someone watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHjo1boUYrI and tell me what he's playing at 5:49 when he starts singing?

He describes the chords at 5:20, but i'm not sure if that what he's really playing - i cant ge that quiet, muted sound.

Is he striking the open strings on the chords also? Is he doing both up and down strokes? The videos too blurry for me to tel easily.

Thanks

Siggi is playing the chords that he listed...but he is muting a little with his right hand palm and not strumming all the way through the strings - all down strokes, but only striking the E,A, and D strings on the E and the A, D, and G strings on the A and B7th chords. If you look, I don't think he is even fretting the F# on the high E string on the B7 - which makes sense, because he's not playing it anyway. Notice when he plays the Asus4 chord, his hand continues down through the strings, but it is restrained on all the chords leading up to it.

The technique he is using is the key to playing "chunky" sounding acoustic rhythm parts, and is used on many, many, contemporary (and some not so contemporary) songs.
