Due to the size of Texas I don't see why we can't have more than one TGF get together. One in the North, and one in the South.

Maybe a BBQ and Crawfish boil at the same time.
Food, Fun and Music

Anyone Interested?:)

I'm up for that, Guitarman. I know where we could get together at Lake Livingston. But the weather would have to be nice, since it's outside.

I'll go to both for sure. :)

Lake Livingston is only about a one hour drive for me, Sounds good.

I am also at Lake Houston, and there is a marina with a large enclosed patio that we may be able to use.

Our subdivision also has a park that would be good.

And If not to many people wanted to attend then maybe my wife would let us get together at our home. Humble as it may be, it does a least have a concrete pond in the back yard. The Temperature would need to be warm enough to use it though.

Just a few suggestions.

If you have any suggestions on dates or places, lets kick it around and see what we can put together.

I think I read that LarryH lived in the spring area. Maybe he might want to attend also.

The covered patio thing sounds great. :)

I mean really, in all reality all we need is:

An air-conditioned place to all congregate, oogle over each other's guitars, talk shop etc.

Other than that we could all just go someplace to eat, doesn't have to be a huge festive deal. :)

We just need to agree on when and where.

I live in San Antonio and I would go to a South Texas get together (depending on the date, of course). But where is Lake Livingston?

Get out your map!

The covered patio at Lake Houston is probably the best idea. The area at Lake Livingston is called the Wilderness Cathedral, because it is truly wilderness.

Why don't we shoot for the middle of March?

Both of the lakes mentioned are off of the EastTex FWY, Hwy 59, north east of Houston. Lake Houston is Just outside of the city Limits of Houston and Lake Livingston is about 70 miles further North.

I think you can take Interstate 10 in to Houston. Then take 59 North. It will intersect with Hwy 59 close to downtown.

Right now any weekend March thru May Looks OK to me.

What is the best Month and day for everyone?

I'm halfway between Houston and Galveston, so Lake Houston would be maybe 45 minutes and Lake Livingston (depending on just where -- it's a sizable lake) would be two hours at most.

I'd be up for any weekend (preferably Friday-Saturday) that doesn't interfere with college visitations or work stuff or church stuff.

I have plans for the next two weekends, but I'm open after that as far as I can tell right now. :)

Guitarman, thanks for the info. That's pretty far for my tastes, since I am doing so much other travel (generally 2 weekends per month out of town -- I'm such a volunteer).

I'll just wait to see how this develops. If the thingy gets set up somewhere closer, I'm game.

It still looks like the S.A. get together is still up in the air.

If we would like to have a South Texas get together In March, what do you think about, Sat. March 22nd the 2nd day of spring?

The later in the month, the better the weather may be.
However this is texas, and If you don't like the weather just wait a couple of hours and it will change.

If someone would like, we could run a poll for month and day.

I checked with the owner of the marina, and we can have the upper patio March 22. We just need to give some advanced notice. So far the only fee is only $5.00 for Parking. We can not take any beer to the Marina, but you can buy it at the marina store next to the patio, If you would like. They need to make some money somehow.

We can also BBQ and do Crawfish out there, no problem.

We can also set up Amps, PA Systems, mixers, Etc. They don't care If we make a lot of noise out there!

We can be as big or small of a group as we want.

We can bring friends and Family If you would like.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

That Marina sounds great to me.

We should do a big BBQ. :)

I'm no expert BBQ'r but I'm a good cook (don't grow a belly like this being a bad cook hehe) and would certainly be willing to help out in that department.

If everyone is agreed on date and location, Then, I will set it up with the Marina in a few days to give everyone who wants to come a chance to give their input on what they would like to do.

I have never set anything like this up before, so please let me know what you would like to do. Also if you would like to help in the planning of this event, PLEASE DO SO!!

If you would like to Email me and leave a number, I will call you.

Fun, Food and a chance to meet the People of the TGF

I don't live down there... but I might be in the neighborhood around then (about the only part of the country I want to visit and haven't)... so if that's the case, I'll bring something dead to eat.

My mom and one of my nephews will be visiting March 15-22, so I'm doubtful at best. If we put them on the plane at Intercontinental early enough in the day, I might be able to swing by for a little while.

LarryH

We will only be about 20 min from the Airport, On FM 1960, East bound out of Humble. It is on the left hand side of the highway at the end of the 1960 bridge crossing the lake.

Would love to see you there!

We will have plenty of food.

The red star on map quest is slightly off. It is really on the lake, on the left side of the road as you travel east bound. Be ready to make a left turn at the end of the bridge crossing Lake Houston.
