Musicology of Newnan is pleased to announce a performance of Land of the Sky concert by Al Petteway and Amy White. Al's music will be featured in the upcoming PBS Ken Burns documentary The National Parks: America's Best Idea, set to begin airing on September 27. A workshop with Al is scheduled for 1:00 the day of the concert.

APPALACHIAN GUITAR - Using DADGAD Tuning as a Route to Rediscovering Traditional Appalachian Tunes and Songs on the Guitar
In this workshop students will learn the basics of DADGAD tuning and learn to play tunes like Shady Grove, Pretty Polly, and Old Reuben. The keys of G and D and their relative minor and modal keys will be discussed and demonstrated. Two new right hand techniques will be learned for creating the “Appalachian sound” on guitar.
