Just a few years ago I was brimming with excitement because autumn meant MONROESTOCK........Great memories, well at least I have those. :(
If anyone cares to get together just to visit and maybe jam in Marions parking lot and grab some eats. PM me. Maybe 2nd saturday in october. Anyone game? How about it Rick? Just for fun and old time sakes. No huge commitment or planning. Those who show up.

but it's just too far to drive for a parking lot jam, and there's a third Saturday event that I miss in FL due to MS...maybe I'll make that this year?

Lauren has class during the day on Saturdays, but I think we could scoot down to see friends when she got out of class. It would be great to see some friends again.

So let's not waste time missing something good, let's make something good happen again. It may take a while, and I understand the constraints of locations, finances, and timing; but golly, why not give 'er a try?
If we start early and work something up. We can do it.

I with you, Tad. The spirit of MonroeStock must live on....maybe we can still call it MonroeStock but move it to Raleigh or Miami or Deland (TIC [tongue in check])??...sorry, couldn't resist the temptation to be a smart mouth....there's so little call for that these days....
While you're here, let's talk on this...I'm trying to sketch out a similar plan so that I can have more than one magic week per year.

My thought is that, with our Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia populations being what they are, Raleigh is a pretty trade-off. Heck, Gettysburg, PA is 5.5 hours from my door. I can supply absolutely everything we need in a snap. Venue, sponsors, access to guitar shops, transportation between venues and hotels, sound equipment, food, lodging, all are available at minimal cost, or free.
Y'all know I tried this...... and had less than five responses. I will devote equal energy to another suggestion, and travel far to be there, of course, but we need to be serious about doing this if it is going to retrieve the charm of Monroestock.

Maybe we need to find a weekend/time first? MS got killed off when the 3rd Sat. in Oct came up full on a bunch of folks calendars. Vicki and I liked that fall season slot in NC since we sometimes got to see pretty leaves.

Indeed there is. MagnoliaFest (http://magmusic.com/magnoliafest/), 10/22/09 - 10/25/09 has a hella good lineup (http://magmusic.com/magnoliafest/lineup) this time. If you intend on going I have all kinds if good info to pass along.

I can't begin to tell you how I miss Monroestock. Like no other jam I've been to, it expanded my circle of friends in the AGF, but meeting those people face to face was the big treat. Music was almost secondary to the camaraderie.
I wish we could put something together, even if it has to be in another location. Obviously Raleigh is appealing to me because my daughter lives there. Tying a visit to my grandchildren to a guitar weekend would be heaven on earth.

Being in Marions parking lot at 10:30 am Saturday 17th October 2009. Whoever shows up, shows up. If its hot we`ll find some shade and jam and talk. We do not have to have PA or guest artists, planned agenda or catered food or door prizes (please note I appreciated Marions and Ricks efforts to make Monroestock special and I am in no way minimalizing any of their past efforts) Gosh folks we play acoustic guitars and are friends what more do you really need than that. If its cold and rainy we can at least grab some coffee etc and sit eat and talk and catch up on one another. WILL I SEE YOU THERE? Bobby
CRIDER are you still on the top side of the Daisy`s?
