Hey guys!

I'm in Nashville until Friday. Staying off 4th Ave N.
What are must "nightlife" spots to hit?
Looking for great live music, dancing, drink...etc

Food? Good places to eat that don't cost a fortune?

Here is a good resturant on 3rd Ave. Not too expensive. My wife and I tried it a coupe of weeks ago and really enjoyed our meal:

Then there is always the standards of the Wild Horse Saloon. Bluebird Cafe, Tootsie's, etc.

Aaron,

Wednesday night be sure to go the The Violin Shop (http://www.theviolinshop.com) for their 'Hot Fiddle Nights' at The Violin Shop concert series. World class musicians, intimate venue for about 50 seats. The fiddler performing usually has a guitarist or small combo with then so the sound is huge... and the talent is world class. So far I have seen Andy Leftwich and Cody Kirby (fiddle and guitar for Ricky Skaggs), and Stewart Duncan (world renown sessions fiddle and award winning fiddler).

After the show you can meet the performers as well as stick around for the jam circle of fiddlers, mandolins, and occasionally a stand up bass and guitarist as well. Bring your guitar if you can play bluegrass. Check out the gallery web page (http://www.theviolinshop.com/gallery.php)... their are some pics of past shows and the jam circles. Mostly played are bluegrass fiddle tunes.

Best to buy tickets online as the shows sometimes sell out, but walking are welcome as seating is available. $10 is a bargain.

I'll be there. Let me know if you plan on attending. You will not regret it.

Aaron,

Some good advice so far on music. I was just there in Nashville a couple of weeks ago, playing tourist. We had a great time of course!

Re: food... On Broadway, same side of the street as The Wheel but a block further towards the river, is Broadway Brewhouse [317 Broadway]... kitchen is good; they have decent red beans & rice instead of the usual frozen french fries to go w/ your sandwich. Big menu, & reasonable. We didn't go, but have heard Demo's [300 Commerce Street] is a good value - it's a steak & spaghetti joint.

if you have a car, over near Vanderbilt University we found a place called Noshville [1918 Broadway] that is an excellent deli; they have great food. Come hungry - huge portions. Also near Vandy is Mellow Mushroom [212 21st Ave S], it's a chain, but their pizza is excellent. If you want a slice of Nashville history, drive out to the Loveless Cafe [8400 Highway 100] for some true Southern cookin' and darn good biscuits. Ignore the tourist trap aspect w/ all the surrounding shops and enter the restaurant directly for some good eats. Also ignore the whiny online reviews - we enjoyed the place very much. Go off-peak if you want to avoid a wait; it's very popular at peak times.

Re: music, I've always heard good bands at both The Wheel and Robert's Western World. Both are fun places, & no cover... good places to hop in and see what's cooking.
