Bringing together three highly acclaimed acoustic guitarists, the Little Fox and Don Quixote’s are presenting two evenings of instrumental virtuosity, vocal finesse, and spontaneous collaboration. Featuring award-winning guitarist/vocalist Vicki Genfan, National Fingerstyle Guitar Champion Tim Sparks, and Bay Area favorite Teja Gerken, these will be concerts that no fan of the guitar should miss.

Vicki Genfan (www.vickigenfan.com) was the first-ever female finalist of the Guitar Player Magazine Guitar Superstar competition, which she won in 2008. A globe-trotting performer, Vicki is often compared to artists such as Michael Hedges, Preston Reed, and Patty Larkin. Using 29 alternate tunings and a percussive technique she calls 'slap-tap,’ as well as pure, expressive vocals, Vicki has amazed audiences at prestigious events such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, Germany’s Open Strings festival, and Italy’s Soave Guitar Festival. Vicki has recorded several CDs for Acoustic Music Records, the latest being 2008’s collection of pop cover songs, UnCovered.

Tim Sparks (www.timsparks.com) was the1993 National Fingerpicking Guitar Champion, and he is one of the most diverse and eclectic guitarists currently performing. Rooted in both classical and country-blues styles, Tim spent years leading the Minneapolis jazz group Rio Nido before going on to record Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker suite, an album of Balkan music, and finally, a series of CDs of traditional Jewish music for John Zorn’s cutting-edge Tzadik label. Tim frequently collaborates with artists such as Leo Kottke, Bill Frisell, and Marc Ribot.

Teja Gerken (www.tejagerken.com) is one of the Bay Area’s busiest fingerstyle guitarists. A senior editor at Acoustic Guitar magazine, Teja has released two CDs to international acclaim (the latest being 2005’s Postcards), and he has shared the stage with players such as Alex de Grassi, John Renbourn, and Kaki King. Teja’s playing blends myriad influences into a musical style that hovers around the perimeters of folk, contemporary classical, and world music, often involving alternate tunings, right-hand tapping, and percussive effects.
