Looking for musicians in WNY for a gig Aug. 9th

Hello!

I'm giving a concert in Alexander, NY at 3pm on August 9th, and I'm looking for one or two musicians to play with me. It's an all acoustic concert of all old time hymns and Gospel songs- guitar, mandolin, fiddle, banjo.... if you are interested or know anyone who might be - please pass this along. What level of guitar skill are you looking for? I'm an intermediate level player, but I can't read music, so I would need to just follow along, or have the chord changes. I live near Batavia, which is near Alexander.

Hey Oakson,

I'm looking for someone who can play lead and pick up a lot of the fills with a little bit of flat-picking on the bluegrass tunes. I play most of the rhythm underlying guitar - I need 1 or 2 people to fill out the sound a little. Check out the lead stuff on In the Garden on my myspace page.

BTW - I grew up right on Rt.98 on the way into Alexander - where are you in Batavia?

It sounds to me that your expectations exceed my capabilities. I do mostly fingerstyle picking, but alas, very little lead/flatpicking. It was, however, worth a shot. I'll try to catch your show....you have a great voice!

I live in Oakfield, but travel through Alexander Harley style.

Bummer - I'm still on the hunt but it'll be fun anyway I hope. I haven't quite got the cash for a harley yet, but, a Triumph Bonneville is my main transportation out here - I wish people rented bikes in NY.
