Wondering how many people there are here on the forum from the Atlanta area who would be interested in a get together some time perhaps early this summer.

Sounds interesting. Depending on the time, I could drive over.

We have quite a few members in the general Atlanta area, and we hve had a couple gatherings up that way in the past. I know i was up for 2 of them at least.

You'll have to wait for some of the Ga crowd to see this, but you also might want to post it in that particular section of the forum? Might get moved there anyway.

I live SW of ATL just outside of 285. Give a time and place and I will see you there.

Don't let this thread die, Georgians! Come on, we're over due for a get together!

The critical factors are the date and time for me. But then, yes, I'd be very interested. There is a dealer (Guitar Warehouse) in Bogart, over toward Athens, who was willing to host an AGF get together. Has a nice shop, and a good meeting room in which he's hosted Taylor Road Shows and Doyle Dykes. Haven't talked with him in the past couple years, since I moved a bit south. There are probably other dealers in the greater Atlanta area who would enjoy doing this. A private home is great, but comparatively small, and can limit the number who attend.

What we've lacked in the past is someone with the time and energy to make this happen. Perhaps 2 or 3 folks could work on it together...

Sorry, but this type post really goes over in our dedicated section for such things, rather than here in General Acoustic Guitar Discussion. I'll move it, but leave a redirect.

I'd definitely be in, depending on time/place of course. I'm in Alpharetta, myself.

I bet we could Jim Tozier to join us as well. He's about 20 minutes north of me.

Schedule permitting, I'd love to attend.

Greetings,
Im posting here in hopes of finding a teacher in the Atlanta area. Ive been looking for a bit and not having much luck. Since I may have some Atlantians looking at this post, do you guys know anyone you can point me to? Ive been playing on and off for years and Im really trying this time to stick with it and up my level of playing.

Any advice or recommendations greatly appreciated,
Dustin

Timing would be the thing for me as well, but not as big a thing as getting over the intimidation factor of having a guitar around other people outside of my church. Out of my comfort zone. Might be fun though.

There is a guy named Bud Jones who works at guitar center in Fayetteville, GA. He is really good and gives lessons. If you live somewhat close to Fayetteville let me know by PM and I'll give you some contact information.

Good Luck

Thanks DMB. Unfortunately that's too far for me. I live north of the city near Alpharetta. Ive talked to most of the folks offering lessons on craigslist with no luck. I have found a guy in Duluth named Dave Lockwood. I might reach out to him.

Really appreciate the recommendation though.

I would also be interested in a get together, at least to observe and listen. Just realized this was my first post since joining in 2003. Guess Im a late bloomer....

What type of lessons are you looking for ?
In that, I mean any specific type of music, or playing style.

There are some really good teachers down at Maple Street in Buckhead, and that might not be too far for you.

Is there a date for this yet? I'm looking for ways to take the 3 weeks of vacation I have coming before the synagogue closes, but the date is critical.

Bump - Has this get together idea died for lack of someone willing to host?
