I am looking for a good summer camp (i.e. 3 days to about 1 week) for improving my fingerstyle blues / piedmont blues. I have come upon Centrum ( http://www.centrum.org/blues ). Anybody attend any of their camps? Where they any good / bad?

Any other camps I should be aware of?

Thanks!
Stephane.

Thumbs up for Guitar Intensive in Maine. Been there once, going back this summer. Great instructor lineup and small class sizes

Mike Dowling, Happy Traum, Del Rey, Ernie Hawkins and more, all in one week. Blues, fingerstyle (contemporary & piedmont/travis), swing, boogie. And ukulele

Not quite the musical genre you mention, but I'll bet you could get perfectly good fingerstyle instruction at Alex De Grassi's guitar workshop: www.degrassi.com. I'm going this year myself.

Yep, www.guitarintensives.com
Schedule and other materials are up for this summer (August), and there's a message board for discussion with other potential participants or the organizer, Alice Schiller

Another weeklong workshop, which covers nearly all styles including piedmont would be the Swannanoa gathering. This one is very large (200+ participants, 20 instructors) and perhaps a bit easy to get lost in, but certainly something for everyone. www.swangathering.org (look for Guitar week)

I just got back from my third trip to Fur Peace...I took Marjorie Thompson's workshop (instead of Larry Keel in October)...She did SongCrafting and Country Blues....GREAT workshop....Marjorie is an AMAZING teacher (25 years as Dean of Undergraduate Biology at Brown University...so, yeh she can teach!!)....Great picker, singer, and an incredible songwriter too

Michael Falzarano did a workshop too....I got about 1/2 an hour of "alone time" with him discussing scales

Pete Huttlinger did a workshop as well...THE highlight of my weekend was when 4 of us were sitting around jamming on acoustics after the surprise Sunday night concert given by the instructors and Pete sits down next to me with a mandolin and jammed with us for almost an hour....WOW!!

Saturday night concert was Geoff Muldaur and the Dave Alvin .....3 1/2 hour concert

There's is Nothing, I mean nothing like the Fur Peace Ranch

PS: Sunday afternoon Student perfromance.....very fun!!.....The food is amazing too!!! SE Ohio weather and scenery is the best!!!...OK.....I'll stop.....back to work
