I hesitate to call this a South Florida Jam because people from all over have been so kind to come to South Florida to a few we've had without many of us going farther north than Merritt Island to one held by Tom Bond.
Let's hear from you. What ideas can we come up with about the next jam... when, where, etc. I'd like to do something before the end of my job, in other words at a point when I can still afford to travel. We definitely need to do something before the end of the school year before people start doing summer stuff with families and we scatter to whatever extent.
What are your thoughts?

Well, seeing as I am already out of a job, I'll wait for the comments from others.
But I'm pretty much up for it, even if it's another long drive south.

I'm up for it, I'd be happy to host. Let's try to schedule while we've still got this beautiful weather.

Count me in, wherever. I'll be in a van down by the river w/ the boy the weekend of 3/28 - 29, so that weekend is out for me.

I'd love to do something on April Fools Day because it means I'd walk off of work on a Wednesday and maybe not come back. On the other hand, the host might be scared we wouldn't show up.
Just as an aside... 15 years ago, I was hired to be the Youth Director on April 1st. 5 years ago, I was made the Executive Director on April 1st. I've always wondered if someday the board of directors would walk in and say, "We were only kidding, so give us back the money!"
I'm not good on the 21st of March, but I am good on the 22nd, the 28th or 29th. Looking at the calendar otherwise, something I don't already know about would have to come up to disrupt my schedule all the way into the end of May. My birthday is Sunday, May 10th, so a jam would be perfect as far as I'm concerned, but I suppose the family is going to expect me to sit around all day so they can throw a party I don't want with people I don't care to be with. Honestly, I'd rather be with you guys.
Like I said in my oroginal post, what about something up north? The Flroida eskimos have been really nice to come all the way down here so often. Shouldn't we return the favor?
Jim - you can host any time if the food is going to be like the last time, but I'm warning you, I might move in!

Of course. I'm a fool from Kentucky, so I can't count anyway.
Earlier mistake - I'm out the weekend of April 9-10-11-12. That's the Masters weekend, closest thing to Holy Week in my house. You can come over and watch it with me, but when that tournament is on, ain't no guitar pickin' allowed.
BTW - Sunday the 12th is the equivalent of St. Patty's Day... wear'en o'tha GREEN!

And no Rick, that AIN'T motorcycle racing....:D
I'm with you on that one Dennis.....I'm always really torn between it being opening week at my home course and watching the TV coverage. I normally end up watching some and taping some so I can still go play.

Wish you could be here this week... Doral starts tomorrow. With my knee and ankle still bothering me, I won't go, but I'd walk on crutches for a chance to see the Masters.

Y'all know I'm in. Can't believe I didn't see this thread until now. I would also be willing to host, if needed. My new address is in Ft. Lauderdale proper, just W of 95 off Davie Blvd., so there won't be a beach next time I host. I do however have some sand, a few palm trees & 4 tiki torches around the back patio ;)

:D I'm here, on occasion. I've been busy this week!
North is good, Boca is good, FtL is good, first weekend April is fine... someone decide, I'll be traveling next week too, so I may be outta touch a few days at a stretch. But let's make a deal. Or a plan. Or plan a deal!

One slight problem for your plans here guys...............
I might be in town during that time. Rae wants to see some sun and sand. If my youngest brother isn't in from Oregon, we're probably coming down.

Last time I looked, Florida was a pretty long place.

Still se NO problem there.
Never been any problems listening to your singing and if I have to feed ya for that I'm in.

Yeah - but during the times we've been together other than at restaurants, you've also cooked a lot of the food, so there must be SOME priviledge built into that equation.
Good talking to you this morning.

Weekend of April 4th works here, what's the consensus on Sat or Sun? Mrs. Jawbone says she'll tolerate us here if I behave myself between now and then, which is a pretty good bet I s'pose. C'mon on over.

Miss Rae (my daughter) has Spring Break from the 3rd to the 11th. I have "half" of that time, but could likely manage a bit more at needs. The only wrinkle I have is that my youngest brother, Justin, is reportedly planning a visit from Oregon to the ancestral home in Pennsyltucky sometime in April. If he comes, I must go there (my brothers are just the best, and Mom likes to see the whole set of five whenever she can).
Please, brothers, make your best plans and move forward. Don't wait on me. The happiness I will know from your best time together exceeds my great desire to be there with you. If more folks can come when I cannot, or there is even one who can attend only on a certain date, I would be glad to know I have played some part.
I should know more about this soon. Thanks for thinking of me.

Sharky's vote is for the Saturday, but either is fine.

Okay, seems brother Justin is not coming after all. The only decision for us now is whether we blaze southward on the afternoon of April 3rd to arrive sometime around lunch on the 4th, or head down at a more relaxed pace to be in town for the weekend of the 11th-12th. I will know more about our situation tomorrow, as Rae's friend is coming with us and has yet to be informed of the options. After that, I will try to stay flexible to meet with everyone's best availability.
I'll post up when things are more clear. Thanks, y'all. See ya soon.

Contact Glades Guitars, in Pembroke Pines, just west of Ft. Lauderdale and a stone's throw from the Florida Turnpike. It's our local hand made guitar store and home away from home for the local fingerstyle and jazz players of Miami. It's got a great stage, where noted player Paul Asbell just performed last night, and where national fingerstyle champ Michael Chapdelaine, jazz master John Stowell, Doc Watson sideman Jack Lawrence, Nashville session player Robert Bowlin and...and...even I have performed. And not to mention the wonderful decor: Blanchard, Bourgeois, Collings, Goodall, How, Martin, Osthoff, Santa Cruz and more.

Hey Marc,
Not quite sure what you intend with your post, but instead of us coming to your store, why don't you join us where we gather? You will be welcomed by some great folks.
Thanks for the heads up on the shop, but posting it here moves me a bit further from wanting to come there, not closer. Hope you understand.
