I am going to give this lineup a few plugs, for those who might be thinking about going. I saw a few of these groups this week-end:

I saw Dale Ann Bradley Friday night, and she put on a very good show. She has a wonderful singing voice, and did a rendition of Pressed Through The Crowd accompanied only by her own guitar playing that was exceptional.

Vincent & Dailey - While they were not here this week-end, I saw them last year in one of their first festival performances, and they are amazing. By The Mark is one of the best gospel songs I have ever heard, and there was not a dry eye in the house when they performed More Than A Name On A Wall, which is a Statler Brothers song from the eighties, written by Jimmy Fortune. These two have an amazing chemistry in their vocals.

Steep Canyon Rangers - Saw them Saturday, and they put on a very good show ... very strong instrumentals, and a good variety of songs.

Josh Williams Band - Josh Williams is my favorite flatpicker, and 2008 IBMA Guitar Player of the Year. Now I didn't say "the best," so let's not start that argument. I just like the style. He has assembled a tremendous band. Instrumentally, they are excellent, but their 3 and 4 part harmonies are even better. If he can keep this group together, and identify the right material, they will be one of the top groups for a long time.

Michael Cleveland and Flamekeepers - If you have never seen this band, they are a bluegrass "must see." They have been instrumental group of the year the past two years, and I don't see anyone that will take that away from them ... and yes, I have seen Kentucky Thunder. Started playing fiddle when he was 4 at the Kentucky School For The Blind, and he is now 25 or 26, and as good as there is anywhere ... and one of the friendliest, most humble people you will ever meet.

I felt sorry for Dan Tyminski, who had to follow the Flamekeepers!

By the way, I also saw Tony Rice for the first time Friday ... the only word that comes to mind is ASTOUNDING!

If you're anywhere near Kentucky, this will be a great show to see!
