Northern NJ?

Hey guys,

Anyone live in northern NJ interested in jamming? I'm not a great player, but I like playing with others(Don't get to do it often) and learning new techniques, etc.

Just figured I'd ask. :)

Hi Mike,
I'm in Central NJ (near Edison/Woodbridge) I just started playing so I'm pretty bad still but if you are in a reasonable drive it would be nice to know a few people close by who also play.

At least I'd have someone to bounce stupid questions off of before I ask them on the board and embarrass myself... :)

I'm sure you weren't looking to jam with bad players though so hopefully some of the other New Jersyians on the board will jump on too. :D

There is a guitar show of some kind coming up in Feb. Maybe we could plan something to include that.

Well, depending on where in Morris Township you are, I'm about 45 minutes down 287 from you :)

Tom's River's pretty far for these guys to go home from afterwards though, that's about 45 minutes south of me.

So far I have found the following interesting events coming up in NJ:

I'd be interested in jamming. I am located in Central NJ (Pennington). Thanks for the heads up about the upcoming shows. I will try to make the Brookdale show in February.

I'm good with the Brookdale show but will have to leave by 3PM or so (In-laws coming over for Dinner)

Has anyone been to this before or knows Brookdale Community College so we can setup a meeting place (or maybe knows a diner in the area for breakfast before the show :) )

been to the show at brookdale several times. great blue grass music in the auditorium downstairs.

the food is terrible though... you can actually bring lunch and listen to live bluegrass all afternoon. usually four or five groups, who sometimes jam with each other...

Hi guys I'm in Sussex county would also like to jam it's too far for south Jersey guys but anyone close by morris/sussex border? I'd like to checkout the Brookdale show too never been to it I wanted to see if I could find a Martin there but I ended up scoring a 71 D35 a few weeks ago and a Taylor T-5 last month so guitar wise not looking now but may a Mandolin F stlye how's the prices on used quality stuff book value or are there deals to be found.

Checking Google Maps I found a Perkins at 24 State Route 34 N, Colts Neck, NJ 07722 (Perkins Restaurant & Bakery)

It's about 15 minutes from the show.

Anyone that wants to hook up for breakfast can meet there at 8:30AM and we can head over around 9:30 from there.

Well, I went this year, I didn't think it was worth the $15 to get in to be honest.

The presentations weren't anything I was particularly interested in, (There was a bluegrass jam session that looked interesting though). There were a couple of performances that I liked by local bands. If you were looking to buy a guitar, that'd be a good place to go.

I got some business cards for some shops that I didn't know about and picked up a book of Irish music for $1 but I wouldn't spend the $15 to get in again unless I was looking to buy a guitar then and there. They did have some pretty good deals...
