the only place in houston I know of that has open mics is The Last Concert Cafe

Any of you here from houston that frequent this place(The Last Concert Cafe) on regular occasions?

Or frequent other "liberal" open mic night bars or dives?

Now I dont want to get in the middle of a group of pros as Im just a hack, but I would like to get to know some of you and play or show off our guitars.

I propose all us AGF forum members in houston get together down here and we can take over this town :D

Sign of the times pal. Like Miami, it's hard to believe a city the size of Houston only has one open mic. If you are lucky, you'll see the same sort of rebirth that we are seeing here. I guess people don't take something seriously as the folk cafes close and the open mic nights disappear. All of a sudden, they're gone and everyone bemoans the fact. Now, a few people in the Dade County and Broward County folk clubs are trying to make serious efforts to have more frequent jams and they are approaching various restaurants about open mic nights. The local Elks Lodges have been very receptive.

In Houston, McGonigel's The Mucky Duck has an open mic night every Monday night. All kinds of folks. Acoustic only, as far as I know.

Hi Guitaardvaark!

The Fender Guitar Forum has something comming up this Sat. at one of the local sport bar and grills. If I remember correctly, it is at Wilcrest and Briar Forest. If you would like more information, Let me know.

Also, we try to have a AGF get together in the spring at The Lake Houston Marina, in Huffman, Tx. I am hoping that we can put something together, this year, for April or May before it gets to hot.

It also looks like Steve, Hondo and a few of the other Guys are trying to put together something around Brennum, Tx.
