WHOOPS==THAT'S 12/8-13!
Yup--it's that time of the year, when the stores begin to fill with bargain-hunters, the mercury takes a nosedive, the snow begins to fall along the lakefront, and 48 lawyers take a breather from interfering with everyone's lives and take the stage instead.
It's the Chicago Bar Association's annual "Christmas Spirits" revue (aka The Bar Show)--a gridiron musical of bench and bar. This year's show is titled "Jury Boys," with plenty of parodies of pop and Broadway songs--some swiped from "Jersey Boys" (swiped in turn from the Four Seasons' catalog), "Dirty Dancing," "Jesus Christ Superstar" and more. This is my seventh year in the cast, and finally, instead of getting a stray one-line solo or introductory speaking line, I am actually playing a character and getting to sing a song! (Not gonna tell you which one, but it actually takes advantage of my blues-torch chops). One price, great seats available all nights. All proceeds go to the Chicago Bar Charities--which support local schools, shelters, food and clothing drives and the like. And you get to see 48 lawyers with no danger of being sued and without having to pay a retainer or get billed! (And in the blackmail dept., you also get to see me commit attempted dancing).
CBA "CHRISTMAS SPIRITS" REVUE--"JURY BOYS"
TUES. Dec. 8 through SAT. Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. (doors open 7:30)
MERLE RESKIN THEATRE, 60 E. Balbo (off Michigan Ave.), Chicago
ALL SEATS $60---all proceeds to charity. Seat blocks available.
Contact Awilda Reyes through www.chicagobar.org and click on the show's link.
A limited number of sponsorships are also still available!
