I am going to offer my residence for a small AGF get-to-gether on Sunday November 9th. I can comfortably handle 10 to 12 players and perhaps as many as 15 players maximum.

I am located in the NW suburbs of Chicago.

2PM to 8PM or 3PM to 9PM.

I would bring in some take out food. There are several good outlets in the area. Soft drinks provided. $15.00 each should cover the food and drink.

Russ (Forensicguy) said he would bring his bass and sound equipment.

Anyone interested?

I'll be there. Hope the rest of you guys can come too!

Please confirm with Michael as soon as you can so he will know how much food is needed.

Michael, do you need payment in advance or on the day of?

If it was the following weekend I could make it. Unfortunately, I'm working the 9th.

Well-o, well-o, well-o.

I have a conflict later. But I might be able to stop by for a while. I'll check into it.

I'd like to try and get to one of the events.
Have some "things" going on at church, after church...
but I should be able to swing by for a bit.

I would like to come. Sorry I didn't get back to you Russ about the event you tried to organize a couple weeks ago. I planned on attending that one as well.

I could do it. Am gigging earlier in the weekend (Fri. in Downers Grove and Sat. in Skokie), but can make it Sun.

And early happy birthday, Jim!

From my count, it looks like we have maybe 9 people (including our host) coming so far. Let's try to max it out to his limit!

Who else wants to come? There's still room!

Michael says he has wi-fi ability at his home. I was thinking...

If you have a laptop that has wi-fi. Bring it. We could look up lyrics and chords from internet sites and then everyone can look at the multiple laptops we bring to see the chords! Last time we had hoped for a projector and laptop, but unfortuanately, the member who was planning to come couldn't make it at the last minute. But if we had multiple laptops this time, maybe we can do it this way! What do you guys think?

It looks like we will have a nice group for the GTG. I am going to cap it at 10 or so.

Tomorrow or over the weekend I will send PM's to all that have responded positively. I will get you the address and a couple of driving tips to get into the area.

I plan on getting food from one or two places locally.

We have a very good Chinese take out that is close.

Lou Malnotti's is not far away either and I can get a couple of Lou-to-go's.

My wife can whip up a salad for us too.

Any other suggestions?

It has the basic information you will need to get to my place and some suggestions for food.

Stay tuned for more information.

Obviously Chinese food is ok with me! But so is Lou Malnotti's pizza! Anything really is fine with me...

Start Time

Would people like to start at 2 and go to 8 PM or 3 to 9PM?

Food Preferences

Chinese

I was thinking of Kung Bao Beef and Sweet & Sour Chicken and Pork Fried Rice. Or what is your preference/

Pizza from Lou Malnati's

I was thinking one large Deep dish Cheese and Sausage, and One large Deep Dish Pepperoni. Maybe one more Pizza. Lou Malnati also does thin crust. Make a selection

I will provide a selection of soft drinks. What do people like in soda?

I would like everybody to select one song that we can do as a group. I think it should be something that everybody will be familar with and that is easy to play.

Then go to a tab site and pull a good tab with chords and make enough copies to pass out to the group. Or, post a link to the Tab Site. I have a copier if we run short.

Here is my selection
Peaceful Easy Feeling by the Eagles.

http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.xguitar.com/guitar-tabs/eagles/eagles/peaceful_easy_feeling.txt

Use Chordie to transpose it up 2 semitones to E. That is the original key that the song is performed by the Eagles.

Actually Chordie is a very good site because it offers the ability to transpose the song with a couple of key strokes.

Please post here or PM me if you are going to be here so I can plan accordingly.

As for me, any and all Chinese food is fine with me. Pizza... same thing, deep dish or thin... I'm ok with it. Soda... diet coke.

Song... gotta think about that one and get back to you. I'll be playing bass most of the time again, so any songs you guys pick is fine with me. So if someone want to pick one extra on my behalf, go for it! I play by ear anyway. :)

And, what kind of soda, water etc.

Start time preference 2 PM or 3 PM.

If you indicated you are coming I have sent a PM with the address and basic directions.

If anyone else would like to come please contact me or post here.

To those coming please bring a guitar stand(s) for you guitar(s).

I have PM'd everyone tonight to get a head count.

If there are a couple more people out there that would like to attend please post to this thread and I will PM you with all the information on getting to me.

I think we will go 3PM to 9PM. So anytime after 2:30PM is fine with me.

Wanted to go, but am going out-of-town to do yard work for a laid-up in-law.
I would much rather be pickin' than rakin' !
I hope to make the next one.

Does anyone else who is coming have the "Old Town School of Folk Music Songbook" ? ( The school is located in Chicago ). If there are several copies it might be good for a few songs....just a thought.
