Hey fellow AGFers. I am wondering how many of us are in the Southeastern Michigan area (I'm from Bloomfield Hills and am currently in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan) because I'd like to attend one of these get togethers. First, obviously, because they sound just awesome, and I'd love to hear some more experienced people and have fun jamming or whatever. And second, because I might be doing a paper on AGF this semester and having a get together could really help me with it (it's likely going to be on online communities - I thought AGF would be a good one to do, especially because with get togethers like this it shows how this online community is, in fact, a real community - that's kind of a big part of what my paper will be).

So to review:

SE Michigan. Anytime in the next month or two. Anyone from around here/going to be passing through at any time?

I could be, if others are interested as well.

I could be available too, after Columbus Day weekend (FARM here in Northbrook, IL), depending on my Chicago Bar Assn. show rehearsal sched. Dates I'm UNavailable: weekends of Oct. 18-19 (husband's birthday); Nov. 7-9 (gig in Downers Grove the 7th); Thanksgiving weekend and every weekend through Dec. 13 (Bar Show rehearsals). Most of Jan. is open. Feb. dicey--going to SE KS/NE OK for the week either before or after Folk Alliance.

Actually, I could combine a gathering the weekend before the election with a little swing-state phone banking or doorbell-ringing!

That's funny, Oct. 19th is my dad's birthday too. But that's cool because I'll be on my church's fall retreat. I'd prefer this be done this semester (because then I can also use it for my paper), so sometime between the weekend of the 18th and the weekend of the 7th would probably be perfect. Perhaps the weekend of the 25th?

Wherever anyone can make it to. I'm in the Ann Arbor area, but it seems everyone is a bit west of me. Maybe Lansing would be a good area to have it...

Alright guys, let's do this.

We've got a few choices as far as dates go. Saturday, October 25th would be a great day but if that is too soon for you guys to plan for we can do November 15th or 22nd. If everyone's good for October 25th though I say we go for it.

12Stringer, can you help us pick a place in Lansing to go? I'd pick, but I don't know the area. I chose Lansing because I figured no one needs to travel all the way to Ann Arbor when they're all on that side of the state.

Let's get this planned! I'm excited for my first AGF get together! Also, if you guys know anyone else in the area (on or off the forums) let them know. Right now, there's 5 of us on this thread:

I dont know how much help I can be, If its on a Saturday, for me to attend,It would have to be around 5:30-6:00 pm. As I work on Saturdays until 5:00pm. But I can attend about any time other than worktimes. I'll warn everyone If I play with you, I am not very good. As far as a place that also has me stumped, I assume we are looking for a indoor venue. I can not think of anywhere other than rental halls, any ideas?

We could also do Sundays if anyone's up for that, on those same weekends. Also, yeah, I do not know how these get togethers generally run, where they are held, etc. so if someone more learned than us could help us out that would be great!

lol and don't worry 12Stringer - I'm not very good either. ;)

Awesome, dude. Clear, full, and LOUD. I really, really love it. Though I have been having lots of buzzing issues with it since tuning it down (more than an Alvarez would usually have), but I just had some fret work done yesterday and I think the problem's pretty much solved.
